DAY-28 OF PPST FOR CIVIL JUDGES/ILAQA QAZIS – BATCH-II
The twenty-eighth day of the Pre-promotion Statutory Graded Training Program (Batch-II) for Civil Judges/Ilaqa Qazis was held on June 24, 2026, at KPJA. The first academic session was allocated to Civil Case Management, specifically focusing on the Framing of Issues, led by Mr. Dost Muhammad Khan, Director Instructions-I. This session emphasized the critical role of accurately identifying points of contention to ensure a streamlined and effective trial process.
Mid-day activities transitioned to the Judicial Leadership module, with two intensive sessions conducted by Prof. Dr. Waseef Jamal, IMSciences, Peshawar. These sessions explored various leadership styles and theories, distinguishing between management and leadership while also delving into the power dynamics inherent in judicial roles. The instruction aimed to refine the judicial officers' leadership competencies, preparing them for the administrative and team management responsibilities they will assume as Senior Civil Judges/Aala Illaqa Qazis.
The afternoon was devoted to the Legal Framework on Custody and Guardianship, facilitated by Ms. Sofia Waqar Khattak, District & Sessions Judge, Kohat. The discussion centered on key areas of concern, including the assumption of jurisdiction and recent case law, with a primary emphasis on the welfare of the child in custody proceedings.

Delegation of The Awakening – A Society for Social & Cultural Development, Swat Visits KPJA

Peshawar | June 23, 2026

A delegation of The Awakening – A Society for Social & Cultural Development, a Swat-based civil society organisation working on women's rights, legal empowerment, and access to justice, visited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA) for a coordination meeting.

The delegation was led by Ms. Neelum Rahim, Chairperson, accompanied by Ms. Samreen Hakim, Consultant. They were received by Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, Director General KPJA, along with Mr. Ahmed Iftikhar, Dean Faculty, and Mr. Wajid Ali, Director Administration.

During the meeting, the delegation briefed the Academy on its UNDEF-funded project, "Strengthening Land Rights and Access to Justice for Women in Pakistan," being implemented in Swat, Dir, Malakand, Mardan, and Charsadda. The project focuses on raising legal awareness, facilitating access to legal aid, and promoting the enforcement of women's land and inheritance rights.

Both sides discussed opportunities for future collaboration in the areas of judicial training, legal awareness, and women's access to justice. It was agreed that The Awakening would share its training materials, project proposals, and a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for review by the Academy. Future joint initiatives will be explored following the review process.

Director General Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari appreciated the organisation's efforts to promote women's legal rights and access to justice. Shields were exchanged at the conclusion of the meeting as a gesture of goodwill and institutional cooperation.

KPJA remains committed to strengthening partnerships with organisations working to advance the rule of law and improve access to justice across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

DAY-27 OF PPST FOR CIVIL JUDGES/ILAQA QAZIS – BATCH-II
On June 23, 2026, the twenty-seventh day of the Pre-Promotion Statutory Graded Training for Batch II Civil Judges /Ilaqa Qazis KPJA focused on the critical intersection of personal well-being and institutional efficiency. The morning commenced with a comprehensive session on Managing Stress, Anger, and Conflict at the Workplace, conducted by Dr. Sylvia Ali Khan from NWGH, Peshawar. Participants explored various professional stressors and engaged in group exercises designed to provide practical techniques for resolving conflicts while maintaining judicial composure. This was followed by module on Mindfulness: Living in the Moment, also led by Dr. Sylvia Ali Khan. This session emphasized the practice of mindfulness and reflection as essential tools for achieving inner peace and improving concentration during demanding judicial tasks.
Following this, Mr. Muhammad Asghar, Senior Civil Judge/Aala Ilaqa Qazi, led a session on the Role of the SCJ as a Member of District Committees. This discussion highlighted the administrative responsibilities of judicial officers within Criminal Justice Coordination, ADR, and Security Committees, underscoring their pivotal role in district-level coordination.
The final session of the day, titled Valuing Time, was led by Dr. Asad Shahjehan, Associate Professor, Hazara University. This module focused on the importance of both personal and professional time management as a prerequisite for enhancing judicial efficiency and meeting the constitutional mandate for expeditious justice.

DAY-26 OF PPST FOR CIVIL JUDGES/ILAQA QAZIS – BATCH-II
Following a week-long Professional Exchange Program at the Federal Judicial Academy Islamabad, the Batch II Civil Judges/Ilaqa Qazis returned to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy on June 22, 2026, to begin the final phase of their training. The twenty-sixth day of the program commenced with a session on Court Management and Staff Supervision led by Mr. Asghar Shah Khilji, District & Sessions Judge, Haripur. This instruction focused on the essential skills required for evaluating staff performance and ensuring effective communication and coordination within the district judiciary.

The training continued with a practical workshop on Judicial Accounts Management, facilitated by Mr. Ahmed Iftikhar, Dean Faculty. Building on earlier theoretical foundations, the judicial officers engaged in hands-on exercises related to managing Sheriff Petty and Civil Court Deposits.

The afternoon was allocated to the cutting-edge field of Generative AI in Courts, featuring two intensive sessions led by Dr. Saima Aftab, Assistant Professor, GIKI, Swabi. Participants explored the integration of Google Workspace and Gemini for AI-based document systems and legal research. The final session provided practical exposure to Notebook LM for document synthesis and AI-assisted reference management, preparing the judges for the digital transformation of judicial work.

KP JUDICIAL ACADEMY JOINS CLOSING SEMINAR ON GENDER RESPONSIVE JUSTICE
(JUNE 10, 2026)
PESHAWAR (June 10, 2026): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA) participated in the Closing Seminar of the project “Improving Gender Parity for Strengthening Gender-Responsive Justice in Pakistan” held at Peshawar.
The seminar brought together representatives of the judiciary, prosecution, police, development partners, and civil society organizations to reflect on achievements and discuss future strategies for strengthening gender-responsive justice and improving access to justice for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV).
Representing KPJA, Mr. Muhammad Shoaib, Senior Director (Research & Publications), and Ms. Farzeen Shahid, Station Director, Radio Meezan, KPJA, attended the event. The Senior Director delivered a speech on behalf of the Director General KPJA, highlighting the Academy’s collaboration with Shirkat Gah and UN Women in implementing capacity-building initiatives for judges and prosecutors from Khyber, Kohat, Peshawar, and Swat.
He highlighted that the project successfully trained 76 justice sector professionals, including 46 women and 30 men. The trainings focused on promoting gender parity and enhancing understanding of gender-based violence, survivor-centered justice, victim and witness protection, and trauma-informed judicial practices. He further emphasized KPJA’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of judicial officers and other justice sector stakeholders across the province and underscored the need for continued collaboration in areas such as trauma-informed justice, digital GBV response, judicial ethics, and legal aid for survivors.
During the seminar, organizers and participants acknowledged and appreciated KPJA’s valuable contribution to the capacity building of judges and prosecutors and stressed the importance of continuing such training initiatives. The event concluded with a shared commitment among stakeholders to further strengthen gender-responsive justice mechanisms and promote equitable access to justice in Pakistan.

DAY-19 OF PPST FOR CIVIL JUDGES/ILAQA QAZIS –BATCH-II
On June 13, 2026, the nineteenth day of the Pre-Promotion Training for Civil Judges /Ilaqa Qazis – Batch-II at KPJA focused on financial transparency and administrative oversight.
The first academic session, led by Mr. Ahmed Iftikhar, Dean of Faculty, was allocated to Judicial Accounts Management. This session provided the judicial officers with a comprehensive understanding of how to manage Sheriff Petty and Civil Court Deposits. This training is vital for their future roles as Senior Civil Judges/Aala Ilaqa Qazis, as it ensures they can maintain accurate and transparent financial records while strictly adhering to legal frameworks for handling court money.
The mid-day and afternoon sessions shifted focus to the Efficiency and Discipline (E&D) Rules, 2011, led by Mr. Asghar Shah Khilji, District & Sessions Judge, Haripur. Participants reviewed the legal framework for disciplinary proceedings, including inquiry procedures and the identification of procedural lapses that can lead to the quashment of legal actions. To reinforce these concepts, the afternoon concluded with a practical workshop where the judges practiced drafting essential documents such as Show Cause Notices and Statements of Allegations.

DAY 3 OF THE TRAINING WORKSHOP ON "EMERGING CRIMES: DIGITAL TOOLS, ELECTRONIC EVIDENCE, VIRTUAL ASSETS AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE"
PESHAWAR, June 12, 2026 – The specialized three-day workshop on "Emerging Crimes: Digital Tools, Electronic Evidence, Virtual Assets and Artificial Intelligence" successfully concluded today at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA). Organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in collaboration with the KPJA, the training aimed to strengthen the capacity of the judiciary to handle the legal and evidentiary challenges of the modern technological landscape.
The final day was allocated to an intensive Practical Exercise facilitated by the UNODC. The participants, representing all tiers of the provincial judiciary, were tasked with the evaluation of digital evidence, AI-generated content, and virtual asset investigations. This hands-on session required participants to apply the knowledge acquired over the previous two days—including digital forensic principles and blockchain analysis—to complex, scenario-based judicial challenges.
The workshop culminated in a formal concluding ceremony chaired by Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, Director General KPJA. The event was also attended by all Directors of the Academy, underscoring the institutional importance of equipping judges with the skills to adjudicate technology-enabled crimes.
During the ceremony, certificates were distributed to the participants. The training concluded with the expectation that the participants are now better prepared to assess the admissibility and reliability of electronic evidence, thereby supporting the fair and effective administration of justice in the face of emerging technological threats.

DAY-18 OF PPST FOR CIVIL JUDGES/ILAQA QAZIS –BATCH-II
On June 12, 2026, the eighteenth day of training for Batch -II Civil Judges/Ilaqa Qazis at KPJA focused on leadership communication.
The day was allocated to communication and presentation skills, led by Dr. Jamal Yousaf, a former Federal Secretary. He taught the participants how to use verbal and non-verbal communication to lead more effectively. Through practical exercises, the judicial officers practiced how to share information clearly and ensure smooth communication within a professional organization.

DAY 2 OF THE TRAINING WORKSHOP ON "EMERGING CRIMES: DIGITAL TOOLS, ELECTRONIC EVIDENCE, VIRTUAL ASSETS AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE"
The specialized workshop on Emerging Crimes continued at the KP Judicial Academy on June 11, 2026, transitioning into advanced technological threats.
The morning sessions, led by Mr. M. Aqib Bangash (Intelligence X One), focused on the Artificial Intelligence (AI) threat landscape. Discussions covered AI-enabled crimes such as deepfakes, automated fraud, and disinformation, alongside the evidentiary challenges of authenticating AI-generated content in court.
In the afternoon, Mr. Farhan Nawazish (UNODC) led sessions on virtual assets. Participants gained a practical understanding of blockchain analysis, including transaction tracing and the use of digital wallets and exchanges in criminal investigations.

DAY-17 OF PPST FOR CIVIL JUDGES/ILAQA QAZIS –BATCH-II
The seventeenth day of the Pre-promotion Statutory Graded Training Program (Batch-II) for Civil Judges /Ilaqa Qazis continued on June 11, 2026.
The morning academic session focused on the Maintenance of Service Record, led by Mr. Zaeem Ahmad, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Swabi. The session provided a comprehensive overview of managing personal files, updated service books, and records of disciplinary proceedings, while also emphasizing the integration of these records into the HR database to ensure administrative accuracy and transparency.
Following this, the training shifted from the classroom to the field with an observational visit to the District Courts Peshawar. The primary objective of the visit was to study the working of the Process Serving Agency (PSA) in a real-world setting. This hands-on experience allowed the participants to observe the practical application of supervisory protocols, work distribution, and the administrative challenges involved in ensuring the efficient service of court processes, which is a vital responsibility of a Senior Civil Judge/Aala Ilaqa Qazi.
