Sogetsu Ikebana Peony Study Group

🌸 We are delighted to be part of the Rapsodia Florilor Festival and to share the beauty of Sogetsu Ikebana inspired by Brâncuși 🌸

🌸 Vineri, 22 Mai 2026, Gabriela Teodorov a susținut un atelier caritabil de ikebana pentru copiii de la clasa 0 a Scolii nr. 1 din Mircea Voda, Constanța. Cu imaginație, entuziasm și bucurie au descoperit împreună aranjamentele cu fructe și legume. Morimono nu este doar despre a aranja elemente vegetale, este o lecție subtilă despre echilibru, răbdare și respect pentru darurile pământului, totul tradus pe înțelesul celor mici, prin joc si poveste.
Evenimentul a fost organizat de Asociația Andrei-Daniel, în parteneriat cu Şcoala Gimnazială Mircea Vodă, Constanța şi Sogetsu Ikebana Peony Study Group 🌸

🪷On May 7th, at the Grand Aula of the Romanian-American University, we celebrated the 21st anniversary of the "Angela Hondru" Romanian Japanese Studies Center.

🪷We were honored to welcome on stage, as a special guest of the Sogetsu Ikebana Peony Study Group, Sozan Nakamura Sensei 中村草山, Master Instructor at Sogetsu Headquarters. Sozan Nakamura Sensei presented a remarkable ikebana demonstration, an amazing experience that emphasized the unique style of the Sogetsu School with Sensei's recognizable special signature.

🪷One of the ikebana arrangements was presented in a vase made after a design by the former head of the Sogetsu School, Hiroshi Teshigahara.

🪷Also, for another ikebana arrangement, Sozan Nakamura Sensei invited Ms. Katae (a practitioner of the Sogetsu style) on the stage to add the final element.

🌸 The workshop led by Sozan Nakamura Sensei 中村草山, master instructor at Sogetsu HQ, was followed by an ikebana exhibition organized in the foyer of the Romanian-American University (May 6-8). The exhibition reunited a diversity of ideas and feelings, all in the spirit of Sogetsu School.

All participants in the workshop conducted by Sozan Nakamura Sensei, from simple flower enthusiasts to experienced practitioners of the Japanese art, were invited to contribute arrangements to the exhibition, with the Sensei’s two works serving as the exhibition’s central pieces 🌸

The event was organized by Sogetsu Ikebana Peony Study Group and Centrul de Studii Romano-Japoneze "Angela Hondru".

We were honored to have with us last week, as a special guest of the Bucharest Sogetsu Peony Study Group, Sozan Nakamura Sensei, Master Instructor at the Sogetsu HQ , during the 2026 edition of the Japanese Cultural Days, organized by the Romanian-Japanese Studies Centre 'Angela Hondru' within the Romanian-American University.
On May 6, at the Senate Hall, an ikebana workshop took place under the guidance of Professor Nakamura. The workshop explored the following themes: arrangements composed exclusively of leaves, and freestyle arrangements. The works created by Sozan Nakamura Sensei, as well as those made by the workshop participants, were brought together in an exhibition displayed in the foyer of the Romanian-American University.
It was a truly magical experience, in the spirit of Sogetsu.

Pe lângă activitatea prodigioasă artistică este membru al Consiliului de Administrație al Asociației Sogetsu, Instructor la Sediul Central al Școlii Sogetsu, membru al Consiliului de Administrație al Asociației Maeștrilor, Directorul Filialei Saitama a Școlii Sogetsu, Instructor al Cursului „Iemoto” din cadrul Sediului Central al Școlii Sogetsu, Instructor la Sogetsu WEST.

🌸 "The feelings I have turn into visual illustrations when I start composing my ikebana arrangements.
When starting work I take into consideration these “creative cues”: the shape or the colour of the vase, the texture or volume of plants, the smell of flowers.
For me ikebana means letting go, but making everything come together in harmony; the rebirth of the unexpected" 🌸

🌸 "Sentimentele pe care le am se transformă în ilustrații vizuale atunci când încep să compun aranjamentele mele ikebana.
Când încep să lucrez, iau în considerare aceste „indicii creative”: forma sau culoarea vasului, textura sau volumul plantelor, mirosul florilor.
Pentru mine, ikebana înseamnă un act de eliberare, dar și aducerea tuturor elementelor într-o armonie deplină; renașterea neașteptatului" 🌸
