PSLE AL Score - What you need to know! 13/06/2026

"My child scored 85. Is that good enough?"

Since the introduction of the PSLE Achievement Level (AL) scoring system, many parents have found themselves asking a different set of questions.

The truth is that the old mindset of chasing every single mark no longer applies in the same way.

Under the AL system:
πŸ“Œ Students are assessed against achievement bands, not ranked against their peers
πŸ“Œ A difference of one or two marks may not affect a student's AL score
πŸ“Œ School choices and ranking preferences now play a more important role in Secondary 1 posting

Understanding how the AL system works can help parents:
βœ… Set more realistic expectations
βœ… Reduce unnecessary stress at home
βœ… Support their child more effectively during the PSLE journey

Most importantly, it helps children focus on learning and improvement rather than comparing themselves with others.

If you're still unsure how the AL system works or what score your child should be aiming for, this guide breaks it down in a clear and parent-friendly way.

πŸ’¬ Parents, what was the biggest surprise for you when you first learned about the AL scoring system?

PSLE AL Score - What you need to know! I will be focusing on what must be on many parents’ and students’ minds – the new PSLE Al Score that will take effect in 2021

🏫 Planning for Primary 1 registration?

Many parents know that living within 1km of a school is beneficial. But do you know exactly how much of a difference it can make when balloting happens?

Understanding how the different registration phases work, when balloting occurs, and why the 1km and 2km priority bands matter can help you make more informed decisions.

In our latest guide, we break down:
βœ… The different P1 registration phases
βœ… How balloting works
βœ… Why residential proximity matters
βœ… Recent balloting trends at popular schools
βœ… What parents can do to improve their chances

Whether your child is entering Primary 1 next year or a few years down the road, it's never too early to understand the system.

Tackling the Grammar Cloze | PSLE Grammar & Cloze Passage 10/06/2026

Grammar Cloze may seem like one of the easier sections in Booklet B, but many students lose marks because they rush through it or miss important clues in the passage.

Here are 4 simple steps to tackle Grammar Cloze more effectively:

βœ… Read the passage once to understand the overall meaning
βœ… Fill in the answers you are confident about first
βœ… Use contextual clues and collocations to work out tougher questions
βœ… Read through the completed passage again to check for grammar, tense and meaning

Did you know that Grammar Cloze tests more than just grammar rules? Students are also expected to recognise common collocations such as "take a risk", "make a difference" and "nothing short of". Building familiarity with these phrases can make a huge difference to your score.

Tackling the Grammar Cloze | PSLE Grammar & Cloze Passage In my post today, I have decided to focus on tackling the Grammar Cloze section found in Booklet B. Read on here!
