Remember spending hours at the arcade?

Our student Wei Kang (WK) is bringing back the nostalgia with this 3D environment of JDR’s “Hi-score” concept illustration.

Working closely with the source material, he faithfully rebuilt the scene while preserving the nostalgic atmosphere and intricate details.

Love Gunpla and mecha design?

Our student Shannon Heng () recreated Hyung Woo Kim's Striker-Zero concept in 3D, challenging her hard-surface modelling skills, technical precision, and attention to detail throughout the process.

From intricate mechanical components to the final polished model, every detail was carefully crafted to capture the essence of the original concept.

Inspired by one of her favourite shows, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, this dialogue shot gave our student Rachana the perfect opportunity to explore character acting and emotional contrast through animation.

To capture the performance, Rachana filmed her own reference video, using it to refine the character's expressions, timing, and signature sass throughout the shot.

Check out more of her animation breakdowns on her Instagram page (.3d)!

Inspired by a 2D concept artwork by artist 渔人登, our student Taqwa (.ghost) transformed the richly detailed scene into a 3D environment.

The scene incorporates Art Nouveau influences with Arabian-inspired architecture, and was crafted for both real-time rendering and VR. The environment’s centrepiece, an astronomical clock featuring octopus-like tentacles, was also fully rigged and animated to bring subtle movement and life to the scene.

What does world-building look like in practice? Student Xavier Tan gives us a glimpse with "Dor Lone", a gothic fantasy world inspired by Renaissance-era kingdoms, where towering churches shape society and cults thrive in the shadows.

To develop the visual language of this world, Xavier used photo bashing, a technique widely used in the concept art and games industry where existing photographic references are composited and painted over to rapidly prototype mood, atmosphere, and aesthetic direction.

Swipe to meet his characters. 🖤

What if every moment of your life became data?

Motion Design student Tommy took that question and ran with it, reimagining the Black Mirror title sequence as a meditation on surveillance, identity, and what it means to be seen in the digital age.

Want to create work like this? Our Motion Design programme covers everything from title sequences to broadcast graphics. Link in bio to find out more. 👆
