In conjunction with Singapore’s Kindness Day on 22 May 2026, Si Ling Primary School ended the final Friday of Semester 1 on a heartwarming and meaningful note 💛

Our students enjoyed a special “Snacks with Form Teachers” session, where classes gathered together to share breakfast, laughter, conversations, and precious bonding moments with their classmates and teachers. The classrooms were filled with joy as students connected with one another in a warm and relaxed atmosphere.

Adding to the meaningful celebration, our Peer Support Leaders (PSLs) conducted an engaging presentation on Kindness. They introduced the THINK approach, reminding everyone to pause and consider if our words are:
✨ True
✨ Helpful
✨ Inspiring
✨ Necessary
✨ Kind

Students also learnt about the importance of using kind and encouraging words to uplift those around them and create a caring school environment.

To end the session, students took part in a heartfelt Kindness Card writing activity, where they expressed gratitude and appreciation to their friends for the little acts of kindness that often go unnoticed. From helping a friend in class to offering words of encouragement, every small act mattered.

It was truly a beautiful way to wrap up Semester 1 — celebrating friendship, gratitude, empathy, and the spirit of kindness that makes our Si Ling family so special 🌈✨

At Si Ling Primary School, we believe that every challenge is an opportunity for growth 🌱✨

We are excited to introduce our students to The Learning Pit, an educational model and powerful learning metaphor created by James Nottingham. The Learning Pit helps students understand that struggle is not a sign of failure, but a natural — and often necessary — part of the learning journey.

Through this model, students learn that meaningful learning takes place when they are willing to embrace challenges, persevere through difficulties, and develop strategies to overcome obstacles.

To kickstart the rollout, our School Leaders introduced and unpacked the Learning Pit model during school assembly sessions in the hall, as well as through online briefing sessions conducted via Teams.

Students actively participated in meaningful discussions with their peers and teachers as they explored how the Learning Pit can be applied across different subjects and learning situations.

During the engagement sessions, students identified the “pits” they often encounter in their learning journey — the concepts, topics, or skills they find challenging. More importantly, they reflected on the “ladders” that could help them climb out of the pit, such as seeking help from teachers and friends, practising consistently, asking questions, using learning strategies, and maintaining a positive mindset.

Through several rounds of thoughtful engagement and reflection activities in Terms 1 and 2, students gained a deeper understanding of resilience, perseverance, and the importance of embracing mistakes as part of learning. The Learning Pit has encouraged many of our students to become more self-aware, reflective, and confident learners who are ready to tackle challenges with courage and determination 💪🌈

We look forward to seeing our students continue to grow as resilient learners who are not afraid to step into the pit and rise stronger from it!

Our Primary 3-6 Peer Support Leaders (PSLs) came together for a meaningful and enriching training session focused on promoting kindness, empathy, and positive peer relationships within our school community 💛✨

During the session, our PSLs worked collaboratively in groups to prepare presentation slides and speakers’ notes for upcoming class sharing sessions. Through thoughtful discussions and teamwork, they explored the THINK Approach, encouraging their peers to pause and consider whether their words are:
✨ True
✨ Helpful
✨ Inspiring
✨ Necessary
✨ Kind

The PSLs also learnt important upstanding skills by discussing how hurtful words and phrases can be replaced and rephrased into kind, respectful, and encouraging words. These conversations empowered our student leaders to become positive role models who can help create a safer and more caring school environment for everyone.

Adding to the excitement, our Primary 5 and 6 PSLs stepped into the roles of scriptwriters and storyboard artists as they conceptualised Si Ling Primary School’s very own Kindness Video 🎬🌈 From brainstorming meaningful storylines to planning scenes and messages, students showcased their creativity, teamwork, and passion for spreading kindness.

Under the guidance and videography expertise of our ICT staff, Mr Chua Yuhang, the students had the opportunity to experience the creative process behind video production while bringing their ideas to life.

It was truly a fulfilling and inspiring session filled with collaboration, creativity, leadership, and meaningful learning experiences. We are proud of our PSLs for taking the lead in building a culture of kindness and support in our school community! 🌟

Our Primary 3 students had an unforgettable time at their exciting in-school Day Camp! 🌟🏕️

Filled with laughter, teamwork, and adventure, the camp provided students with many opportunities to step out of their comfort zones, make new friends, and strengthen bonds with their classmates.

Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of fun-filled and engaging station activities that challenged them to work together, communicate effectively, and support one another. 🌿🧭 *Adventure, Discovery and Teamwork in Action!* 🧭🌿

Our Primary 4 students embarked on an exciting 1-Day Non-Residential Camp filled with adventure, learning and unforgettable experiences right in and around our school community!

The day kicked off with a series of team-building challenges that encouraged students to communicate effectively, support one another and work together towards common goals. Through fun and engaging activities, they demonstrated resilience as they persevered through obstacles and adapted to unfamiliar situations.

One of the highlights of the camp was the neighbourhood orienteering adventure. Armed with maps, clues and a spirit of curiosity, students navigated their way through the surrounding area, putting their observation, problem-solving and decision-making skills to the test. Along the way, they also enjoyed a nature walk, discovering the rich biodiversity in our neighbourhood and gaining a deeper appreciation for the environment around them.

Beyond completing tasks and reaching checkpoints, students learnt valuable life skills. They showed empathy by encouraging teammates who faced challenges, displayed responsibility as they navigated safely and confidently, and demonstrated resilience when confronted with difficult tasks.

The camp provided authentic opportunities for students to step out of their comfort zones, strengthen friendships and develop important 21st-century competencies such as collaboration, critical thinking and self-management.

What an action-packed day of exploration, teamwork and growth! We are proud of our Primary 4 students for embracing every challenge with enthusiasm, courage and a positive spirit. 🌟

🦋✨ Primary 2 Learning Journey to the Science Centre!

To bring their STELLAR unit, A Butterfly is Born, to life, our Primary 2 students embarked on an exciting learning journey to the Science Centre! 🔬🌿

Students got up close with real life insects and observed the shells left behind after moulting, giving them a fascinating glimpse into the wonders of nature. 🐛 They also explored the garden, putting their observation skills to the test as they spotted insects in their natural habitat.

Back in the classroom, the learning continued as students channelled their curiosity into a class writing activity about butterflies. They also brought home an adorable butterfly life cycle craft to share their learning with their families! 🎨📝

It was wonderful to see learning come alive beyond the classroom, sparking curiosity, wonder and a deeper appreciation for the natural world around us. 🌍💡
