Scholars of Tomorrow

Hail, Alma mater Rulang School
May you stand like an evergreen
To spread culture and develop talent
To teach the ways of scholars
And make us see
The importance of respect for others
The toil and sweat of our fathers
We'll never forget
The advice of friends and teachers
We're sure to remember
With you we march forward courageously
With time
We progress zealously.

As part of the school’s Special Programme, our Primary 6 students recently stepped into the role of “Little Trainers” and had an exciting learning experience that combined innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

Their mission? To design and conduct a one-hour workshop to teach our Primary 2 pupils a brand-new skill or craft. Before that, they had to convince the P2 students to sign up! To pitch their workshops, our P6 trainers leveraged the P2 recess to showcase their creative raps, skits, and engaging presentations to capture the attention of the younger students.

Once the P2 students had selected and were matched to their favourite session, the real magic happened. Our P6 trainers demonstrated patience, creativity, and teamwork as they guided their P2 juniors through each activity.

It was heartwarming to see students across both levels collaborating, laughing, and learning from one another. Kudos to our Primary 6 students for guiding their juniors with so much patience, heart, and confidence!

Our Primary 4 pupils embarked on an enriching Museum-Based Learning journey to the National Gallery Singapore in Term 2, exploring the nation’s history through the eyes of artists. Through a diverse showcase of artworks, students discovered how stories from the past can be creatively interpreted and expressed.

The learning didn't stop indoors. From the rooftop, students took in the stunning city skyline, channeling their inner artists for an observational sketching session. Another memorable highlight was Temple by Tuan Andrew Nguyen, a unique multi-sensorial installation where remnants of war were transformed into instruments that produced gentle, calming sounds through movement and touch.

It was a meaningful journey of observation, reflection, and creative expression — one that brought history and art to life in an authentic and memorable way for our learners.

We welcomed our new batch of CCA Leaders at the annual CCA Leaders’ Investiture. It was a proud and meaningful moment as they stepped into their new roles for the year.

True leadership is not just about skills and achievements—it is fundamentally about character and values. During the ceremony, our newly appointed CCA Leaders shared how they embody our school’s D.A.R.E. values (Self-Discipline, Adaptability, Respect, and Empathy) within their respective CCAs, highlighting their commitment to serving their CCAs.

Congratulations to all our newly appointed CCA Leaders! We hope they will continue to grow through their experiences, inspire those around them, and make a positive impact in school.

After reading the big book “Life of a Butterfly” during English lessons, our P2 students had the exciting opportunity to observe a real caterpillar up close at its different stages of growth.

What began as a story in the classroom quickly came alive as students watched, wondered, and made meaningful connections between the text and the real world. Through this hands-on experience, learning became vibrant, interactive, and memorable!

Moments like these spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and nurture the joy of learning beyond the pages of a book.

In conjunction with Kindness Month, our Rulangnites participated in a meaningful VIA experience with patients and healthcare staff at JurongHealth Campus and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

To spread cheer and gratitude, our Art Club members assisted patients in decorating personalised tokens of appreciation using art and craft materials provided by Jurong Health Campus. These tokens were later presented to nurses in recognition of their care, compassion, and dedication. In addition, our Chinese Orchestra, International Dance, Choir members, and a solo Chinese dancer staged a heartwarming mini-concert titled “Seeds of Kindness, Garden of Gratitude”, featuring a series of engaging performances that ended with a joyful sing-along that brought everyone together. Through art, music, dance, and simple acts of giving, kindness was shared in a meaningful and memorable way.

More than just a VIA project, this collaborative effort was a wonderful opportunity for our Rulangnites to learn about empathy and gratitude, while strengthening their commitment to care for the community.

Last Friday, our Primary 4 to Primary 6 students came together to observe Drug Victims Remembrance Day.

During assembly, our Principal shared with students about the devastating impact of drug abuse on individuals, families, and communities. This was followed by meaningful class discussions where students reflected on the importance of making wise choices and caring for those affected. Students also penned heartfelt messages of encouragement for the victims, expressing their hope for a drug-free society.

Together, we reaffirm our commitment to building a drug-free society rooted in care, empathy, and responsibility.

Over the past two days, our Prefects conducted surveys during the Primary 4 to Primary 6 recesses to gather student voices on their lunchtime experiences.

Our Primary 3 Class EXCO members also participated in the survey with the support of their Form Teachers, contributing their perspectives as part of the effort to gather student feedback.

Through this process, our Prefects demonstrated critical and adaptive thinking, as well as strong communication and collaboration skills. They had to explain the purpose of the survey clearly, guide their schoolmates through the questions, and work together to ensure that different student voices were heard.

More importantly, our Prefects lived out their role as a bridge between the student body and the school. As representatives of student voices, they helped surface the experiences, needs and suggestions of their peers so that we can continue to make school a better place for everyone.

We are proud of our Prefects for stepping forward to listen, serve and lead.

Not all heroes wear capes — some work quietly behind the scenes to keep our school running smoothly every day.

This Non-Teaching Staff Appreciation Day, we celebrated our dedicated team of non-teaching staff who support us in countless ways. Whether they are maintaining our campus, managing school administration, ensuring our safety, or lending a helping hand to students and teachers, their contributions make a difference to everyone in our school community.

To show our gratitude, we presented our non-teaching staff with handmade cards and thoughtful tokens of appreciation specially prepared by Rulangnites. A special video was put together to showcase the hobbies and passions of our non-teaching staff, giving students a wonderful glimpse into who they are beyond their roles in school.

Our Inclusivity Ambassadors also played a meaningful role in the celebration. Some volunteered to interview our non-teaching staff and shared the insights they gained with their classmates, helping others better appreciate the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes. Others stepped forward to support specific non-teaching staff with translation during the assembly, ensuring that everyone could feel included and celebrated.

Thank you to our non-teaching staff for your unwavering care, dedication, and commitment. Our school is a brighter and better place because of you! 🌟

Last week, we opened our doors to staff and students from our sister school, Tin Shui Wai Methodist Primary School. Our visitors from Hong Kong jumped straight into the Rulang experience, starting with a blast of ice-breaker games that turned strangers into fast friends.

Be it collaborating on Science experiments, learning together during PE, or exploring the outdoors, our Rulangnites and their buddies proved that learning has no borders. It’s such cultural exchanges that help our Rulangnites grow into empathetic, world-ready citizens.

The spirit of collaboration extended to our educators as well. Our school leaders and staff also took the opportunity to connect and learn alongside one another, further strengthening the professional bonds between our two schools.

We’re so grateful for this enduring partnership and can’t wait for the next chapter of our journey together!

From their first brainstorming session in March to their final prototypes in April, our Rulangnites have successfully completed their robot design challenge. 🤖

Working on differentiated problem statements, students explored ideas at their own pace — growing not only in their design thinking, but also in confidence and adaptability along the way.

Armed with their 2D drawings, they brought their concepts to life in the Makerspace during recess. It was inspiring to witness their maker spirit in action, as many devoted days to refining their prototypes with focus and determination.

From simple 3D relief designs to intricate prototypes, their creations truly blossomed. Just as importantly, students supported one another by sharing materials and encouraging their peers, showing that innovation thrives in collaboration.

What a wonderful showcase of creativity, resilience and teamwork! Well done, Rulangnites!
