Hanyu Pinyin Day ✨
As part of our Mother Tongue Language Fortnight, our P1 children put on their thinking caps for an exciting 拼音大挑战 — putting everything they’ve learnt this semester to the test!
Across 5 stations, students tackled word puzzles, jumped to match sounds, and raced to arrange cards into sentences — all using the 声母、韵母 and 调号 they’ve been practising since the start of the year!
A huge thank you to our wonderful PSG members who kept the energy high, the scores tallied, and the fun going — we couldn’t have done it without you!
And yes… it got a little noisy. But that’s the sound of learning happening!
Can you guess which station got the loudest cheers from our P1 children? 😊🎉

RSS came alive on Kindness Day in partnership with Singapore Kindness Movement!
Our PSG members came down to support our Kindness Day recess fringe activities, helping our students to pause and think of who in their lives they would like to appreciate.
The children made pinwheel flowers with heartfelt notes and designed kindness cards for loved ones, courtesy of SKM!
The highlight of the day was a special visit from Singa the Lion, where our P1 and P2 children enjoyed taking photos and celebrating the spirit of kindness together.
May we continue to build a gracious community through every kind word and thoughtful action.

P2 Coffee Shop Experience ✨🥤
As part of our Primary 2 Chinese curriculum (课文第七课), our P2 children stepped into a lively kopitiam setting for an authentic and interactive learning experience! 🇸🇬☕
Armed with a $5 budget, our young learners visited stalls run by our amazing PSG members — 小安早点、欢欢粥摊、小乐面摊 and 康康咖啡店 — to ‘purchase’ their favourite food and drinks entirely in Mandarin! 👏
From ordering 猪肉粥、鱼圆面、炒粿条 and 荷包蛋 to requesting drinks like 豆奶、奶茶 and 美禄, our dearest children confidently applied what they learnt in class while expanding their food and beverage vocabulary. 🍜🥚🥤
They also practised using simple phrases to customise their food and drinks, such as asking for less sugar, adding chilli or choosing between iced and warm drinks. 🌶️🥤
Through fun role-play conversations, students learnt how to confidently and politely order food in Mandarin in a real-life setting. 💬✨
Can you guess which food and drink were the top favourites among our P2 children? 😋🍜🥤

“咚,咚咚咚,嗒!”
The lively beats of the drums — energetic, enthusiastic, and delightfully spirited — marked the start of RSS Term 2’s SAP Programme on Chinese Culture: 中华艺术!
A few days ago, our children had the opportunity to learn the 小堂鼓 (small Chinese barrel drums), following the rhythms demonstrated by the RSS drummers.
At the same time, another exciting cultural activity was taking place —
Our children learnt about the different lion dance movements and poses, immersing themselves in the experience with great joy and excitement.
And when it comes to Chinese culture, how could we miss the iconic Chinese Opera masks?
Our students unleashed their creativity by colouring traditional 戏曲脸谱, transforming them into beautiful hand-held fans too!
A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated PSG members for spending the morning with our RSS children.

🎨🎶 Aesthetics Week – Community Highlights 🎨🎶
On the final day of Aesthetics Week, teachers and students came together to celebrate creativity, play, and the beauty of shared experiences.
At the art booth, our children crafted their own personalised keychains using art clay, shaping their initials and expressing their individuality through colour and design. Each piece was a reflection of their imagination—unique and full of character.
The energy carried through with lively rounds of musical chairs and community singing, filled with laughter, excitement, and a strong sense of togetherness.
Students and teachers bonded through music, enjoying a vibrant mix of local folk songs, familiar English pop hits by Katy Perry and Justin Timberlake, as well as popular Chinese pop songs. It was a heartfelt celebration of diversity, connection, and shared joy.
It was truly meaningful to see our children so engaged, expressive, and confident—embracing creativity while building deeper connections with one another.
A day filled with art, music, laughter, and togetherness—a beautiful close to Aesthetics Week!

👨👩👧👦 Parents’ Day 双亲节 2026 👨👩👧
Today, we marked a special milestone by celebrating Parents’ Day for the very first time in a meaningful way!
Centred on service and appreciation, our children brought home the “RSS Parents’ Day Challenge Bingo” card a few weeks ago and took on simple yet heartfelt activities with their parents — from spending quality time together to lending a helping hand at home. Each completed activity reflected love in action. ❤️
In school, students expressed their gratitude through handwritten appreciation cards. Their heartfelt messages were proudly displayed on our noticeboards, creating a warm and uplifting space filled with love and thankfulness.
As a small encouragement, students also received badges in recognition of their efforts to appreciate their parents a little more.
Let’s continue to nurture gratitude and strengthen family bonds — one small act at a time!
Happy Parents’ Day!

Our students had a wonderful time exploring art and music through a variety of hands-on activities!
From creating unique bookmarks and trying a new game called “connect-the-dots,” to a music collaboration using Boomwhackers and composing their own tunes with “Song Maker,” a Chrome Music Lab experiment, students worked together, shared ideas, and expressed their creativity in many different ways.
The fun continued as students tried out steel tongue drums, experimented with GarageBand loops, and enjoyed the art scribble game filled with laughter and friendly guessing!
It was heartening to see students so engaged, confident, and willing to try something new alongside their peers.
Two days filled with creativity, laughter, and self-expression—a meaningful start to Aesthetics Week!
