Giving back to the community, one step at a time. ❤️

Following the successful Sip of Asia event organized by our HTHD2 2529A Higher Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality students, a total of $1,000 was raised and donated to Children’s Aid Society (CAS).

Recently, our students and staff had the privilege of visiting Melrose Home, the residential home under CAS, to present the donation and learn more about the meaningful work they do in supporting children and youths who have experienced adverse life circumstances such as abuse or neglect.

This initiative reflects MDIS’ commitment to nurturing not only industry-ready graduates but also socially responsible individuals who strive to make a positive impact on society.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported the Sip of Asia event and contributed towards this meaningful cause.

MDIS students from Fashion & Design and Media & Communications departments, accompanied by their Programme Manager, Ms Sarala and lecturer, Ms Jesslyn, visited the iconic National Gallery Singapore for the Into the Modern: Impressionism from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston exhibition.

Students had the rare opportunity to experience masterpieces by renowned artists such as Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Edgar Degas pioneers who transformed the art world with their use of light, colour, and everyday subject matter.

One highlight was Monet’s Poppy Field in a Hollow near Giverny, where his signature brushstrokes and vibrant colours beautifully capture nature and fleeting moments of light. Through such works, students explored how Impressionist artists broke away from traditional styles to portray modern life in dynamic and expressive ways.

Featuring over 100 iconic artworks, the exhibition offered insights into themes of urban life, environment, and changing societies—allowing students to connect historical art movements with contemporary creative practices.

This immersive learning experience inspired our students to see art not just as history, but as a powerful influence on fashion, media, and visual storytelling today.

At MDIS, we continue to bring learning beyond the classroom where creativity meets real-world inspiration.
