Lt. Gen. Gregory Vasili and Maj. Gen. Victor Atem Atem have officially reconciled after more than a decade of political differences, marking a significant milestone for unity and peace within the Apuk Community.
The reconciliation took place today at Regency Hotel in Juba and was spearheaded by Prof. Kuel Maluil Jok, the Deputy Chairperson of the Apuk Foundation, who has been actively advocating for reconciliation and unity among Apuk leaders and community members.
The breakthrough is being widely welcomed as a historic achievement that paves the way for greater cohesion, cooperation, and development within the community.
As part of the reconciliation process, the two leaders are expected to travel to Luonyaker to visit the shrine and gravesite of the late Sultan Giir Thiik Riiny, where traditional rituals will be conducted to symbolize the completion of the reconciliation and the restoration of unity.
A community-wide celebration is also expected to be held to commemorate the peace agreement and the beginning of a new chapter of solidarity among the people of Apuk.
The reconciliation is being hailed by many as a victory for dialogue, forgiveness, and the collective interests of the community over political differences.
