Year 3 put their healthy eating research into action last week!

After investigating healthy snacks that are easy to make, the class visited IGA to purchase their ingredients, practising their money skills by calculating costs and checking they received the correct change.

The students were also treated to a special behind-the-scenes tour of IGA, giving them a fascinating insight into how a supermarket operates. They visited the warehouse, learned about different departments and discovered some of the work that happens beyond the shop floor.

Back at school, they prepared and sampled a range of tasty snacks including summer rolls, caprese salad and potato wedges. The children also explored different herbs and spices, discovering how simple ingredients can create a variety of flavours.

A huge thank you to the team at IGA for their warm welcome, generosity and for providing such a valuable learning experience for our students. We greatly appreciate your support.

A fantastic hands-on learning experience combining healthy living, maths, food preparation and real-world experiences!

Our young cheerleaders have had a fantastic term, developing their skills, confidence and teamwork while learning a variety of routines and techniques.

The excitement continues next school year as they begin preparing a special routine for the TCI Arts Foundation’s Christmas Snow White and the Three Dwarfs pantomime. We can’t wait to see them bring their energy, enthusiasm and performance skills to the stage as part of this much-loved community production.

Well done to all of our cheerleaders for their hard work this term. We look forward to seeing you shine in the pantomime!

From healthy recipes and tasty treats in Year 3, to habitats in Year 4 and coastal conservation in Year 5, our students proudly shared their final home learning projects of the year with peers and teachers.

As they presented and discussed their work, students showcased not only their knowledge and understanding of the topics but also their confidence, communication skills and creativity. It was wonderful to see the many different directions their projects had taken, reflecting personal interests, curiosity and deeper exploration of the themes studied in class.

Home learning projects provide valuable opportunities for learning beyond the classroom. Whether working independently or alongside family and friends, students are encouraged to think creatively, pursue their interests and take ownership of their learning. These projects also help strengthen the home-school partnership, creating meaningful opportunities for parents and children to learn together.

This showcase was a fitting celebration of the four home learning projects completed throughout the year and highlighted the enthusiasm, effort and imagination our KS2 students have brought to their learning.

A fantastic celebration of creativity, curiosity and learning beyond the classroom. Well done, KS2!

The science of biscuit dunkability returns!

The time has come once again to conduct one of the most important scientific investigations of the year… exploring the fascinating science behind biscuit dunkability!

Year 8 students designed and carried out their own investigations from scratch, applying the scientific method to answer their chosen research questions. From forming hypotheses and identifying variables to collecting and analysing data, students took full ownership of their practical work.

This year saw even greater creativity and diversity in the investigations. Students explored questions such as:
🥛 Does milk temperature affect biscuit dunkability?
🍪 Which biscuit or cookie tastes best after a 3-second dunk?
🔢 How many dunks is the perfect amount before disaster strikes?

The practical also sparked one of the year’s most heated scientific debates…
🐧 Penguin bar or 🍫 TimTam, which is superior for dunking?

After plenty of dunking, testing, tasting and analysing, students produced thoughtful conclusions and evaluations based on their evidence.

Science has once again provided answers to life’s most pressing questions but the TimTam vs Penguin debate may continue for years to come!

Which side are you on: or ? Let us know below!
And let us know your favourite biscuit for Dunkin’ and what you like to dunk it in! 👇
