Educational Quality Assurance Project of the International College

The International College is committed to continuously enhancing educational quality in line with international standards. As part of this commitment, the College has implemented program-level quality assurance based on the AUN-QA Version 4.0 (ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance) framework for two graduate programs:

📚 Master of Science Program in Organic Agriculture Management and Agricultural Product Innovation

📚 Doctor of Philosophy Program in Organic Agriculture Management and Agricultural Product Innovation

The quality assurance process focuses on all key aspects of academic excellence, including Expected Learning Outcomes (ELOs), curriculum design and development, teaching and learning, student assessment, academic and support staff quality, learning resources, and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).

✨ Through the implementation of the AUN-QA framework, the International College aims to strengthen academic quality, enhance international recognition, increase graduates’ competitiveness, and build confidence among stakeholders. This initiative reflects the College’s dedication to achieving excellence in higher education and fostering sustainable academic development.

On 18 June 2026, participants in the international training program jointly organized by Maejo University and the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) attended a series of academic lectures designed to enhance their knowledge and understanding of digital transformation, leadership, innovation, and sustainable development.

The morning session, “Digital Technology for Socio-economic Development,” was delivered by Dr. Watcharanan Thongma. Participants gained valuable insights into how digital technologies can accelerate socio-economic development, improve public services, enhance productivity, and expand opportunities for sustainable growth in both urban and rural communities. The discussion also highlighted the importance of digital inclusion and technological adaptation in addressing contemporary development challenges.

In the afternoon, participants attended the lecture “Transformational Leadership and Innovation for Sustainability” presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rapeephun Dangtungee. The session emphasized the critical role of visionary leadership, innovation, and collaborative approaches in promoting sustainability and driving meaningful change within organizations and communities. Participants were encouraged to explore innovative solutions and leadership strategies that can contribute to long-term sustainable development.

Throughout the day, participants actively engaged in discussions, exchanged experiences, and shared perspectives from their respective countries. These interactions enriched the learning environment and fostered greater understanding of global development challenges and opportunities.

On 17 June 2026, participants in the international training program jointly organized by Maejo University and the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) attended a series of academic lectures designed to enhance their knowledge and understanding of sustainable development, agricultural innovation, and science communication.

The morning session featured a lecture on “Maejo Agricultural Projects” by Dr. Prakash Murgeppa Bhuyar, who introduced participants to Maejo University’s agricultural development initiatives. The session highlighted innovative farming practices, sustainable resource management, and community-based approaches that contribute to food security and rural development.

In the afternoon, participants attended “Science Communication for Sustainability” presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Tanwutta Thaisuntad. On Tuesday, 16 June 2026, participants in the international training program jointly organized by Maejo University and Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) attended a series of academic sessions focusing on environmental sustainability, behavior change, and innovative agricultural practices.

The morning session featured a lecture on “Environmental Education and Behavior Change” by Dr. Pit Jitpakdee, who shared valuable perspectives on environmental awareness, education strategies, and the role of behavior change in promoting sustainable lifestyles and environmental conservation. Participants explored practical approaches to encouraging positive environmental actions at individual, community, and organizational levels.

In the afternoon, Dr. Wongphan Promwong delivered a lecture entitled “Tiny Creatures, Big Impact: Insects for Sustainable Food, Feed, Waste Management and Smart Agriculture.” The session highlighted the potential of insects in sustainable food systems, animal feed production, organic waste management, and smart agriculture. Participants gained insights into innovative insect-based technologies that support food security, circular economy principles, and environmentally friendly agricultural development.

The sessions provided participants with valuable knowledge and practical ideas that can be adapted and applied in their home countries. On Monday, 15 June 2026, participants in the international training program jointly organized by Maejo University and the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) participated in a study visit to two important community learning and development centers in Chiang Mai Province. The activity aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of food security, sustainable natural resource management, and community-based development approaches that integrate local wisdom with modern innovations.

The study visit was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Winitra Leelapattana and Dr. Suthira Sitthikun, Vice Dean of Maejo University International College. Throughout the day, participants engaged with local practitioners, observed successful development models, and exchanged knowledge on sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, and rural livelihoods.

The first destination was the Mae Du Model: Green Community Management Learning Center for Food Security through Economic Crop Cultivation and Processing Driven by the BOWON (Home–Temple–School/Government) Network. The center serves as a community learning hub that promotes food security and sustainable economic development through collaboration among households, religious institutions, educational organizations, and government agencies.

During the visit, participants learned about Wolffia cultivation as an innovative and environmentally friendly food production system. They also took part in hands-on activities demonstrating value-added processing of Wolffia products, including Wolffia crackers and Wolffia beverages. In addition, the group observed composting practices that transform organic waste into valuable agricultural inputs, contributing to sustainable farming and circular resource management within the community.

The second destination was the Huay Hong Krai Royal Development Study Center, a renowned learning center established to demonstrate integrated approaches to natural resource management and rural development. Participants explored various research and development initiatives conducted at the center, including water resource development, land development, livestock and dairy cattle research and development, conservation and development of frog farming, and fisheries development.

Through these learning activities, participants gained valuable insights into Thailand’s approaches to food security, agricultural innovation, and sustainable resource management. The study visit also provided an opportunity to observe how community participation, scientific research, and environmental stewardship can be effectively combined to improve livelihoods and promote long-term sustainable development.

The study visit formed an important component of the international training program, strengthening participants’ understanding of practical development models that can be adapted and applied in their respective countries and communities.

The activity was designed to enhance participants’ understanding of local lifestyles, community-based economies, and the preservation of cultural and natural heritage.

They observed the care and management of elephants and gained insights into the challenges and opportunities associated with wildlife conservation in Thailand.

The group then visited the Chiang Mai Zoo, an important center for wildlife conservation, environmental education, and biodiversity awareness. Participants explored various animal exhibits and learned about ongoing efforts to protect endangered species and promote environmental stewardship through public education programs.

In the evening, participants experienced the vibrant atmosphere of the Sunday Walking Street in the historic center of Chiang Mai. The visit provided an opportunity to observe local economic activities, traditional handicrafts, cultural performances, and community-based entrepreneurship. Participants interacted with local vendors and gained a deeper appreciation of the rich cultural heritage and creative economy of northern Thailand.

The study visit offered valuable experiential learning opportunities that complemented the academic sessions of the training program. In the afternoon, the group visited Royal Park Rajapruek, one of Chiang Mai’s most important botanical and cultural attractions. The visit provided valuable insights into environmental conservation, sustainable landscape management, and the promotion of cultural heritage through tourism and education.

On Friday, 12 June 2026, participants in the international training program jointly organized by Maejo University and the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) attended a full day of academic activities focusing on sustainable waste management and resource recovery within the framework of the circular economy.

The morning session featured a lecture entitled “Circular Waste Management Systems” delivered by Prof. Dr. Arnat Tancho. The lecture introduced participants to the principles and practices of circular waste management, emphasizing the transition from conventional waste disposal methods to sustainable systems that promote waste reduction, resource efficiency, recycling, and resource recovery. Participants explored innovative approaches to integrating circular economy concepts into community and municipal waste management systems to enhance environmental sustainability.

In the afternoon, participants visited the Maejo Natural Farming Research and Development Center, including its cannabis research and cultivation facilities, to learn about ongoing research and development in organic agriculture and cannabis production. The visit provided valuable insights into sustainable cultivation practices, research applications, and the role of cannabis in agricultural innovation and value-added products.

The visit also included a demonstration of organic waste management and compost production, where participants observed the process of transforming agricultural residues and organic waste into high-quality compost. Experts explained the principles of composting, nutrient recycling, and the integration of compost use within organic farming systems. The activity demonstrated how organic waste can be converted into valuable resources, supporting soil health, reducing environmental impacts, and contributing to a circular agricultural economy.

Through the field visit and interactive discussions, participants gained practical insights into sustainable farming practices, resource recovery, and environmentally responsible agricultural development. The experience complemented the day’s lectures by showcasing real-world applications of circular economy principles in agriculture and waste management.

On Thursday, 11 June 2026, participants in the international training program jointly organized by Maejo University and the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) attended a full day of academic lectures focusing on community development, social innovation, and participatory approaches to rural development.

The day began with a lecture entitled “Community-based Development and Social Innovation” delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nattapol Laorodphan. The session introduced key concepts of community-based development and explored how social innovation can be utilized to address local challenges and enhance community well-being. Participants gained valuable insights into participatory development processes, social entrepreneurship, and sustainable approaches to strengthening local communities. The lecture also highlighted the importance of empowering local people as key actors in development, fostering community resilience, and promoting collaborative partnerships among government agencies, civil society organizations, and local communities to achieve long-term sustainable development goals.

The afternoon session featured a lecture and practical workshop on “Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) Tools in Practice,” also conducted by Asst. Prof. Dr. Nattapol Laorodphan. Participants were introduced to a range of PRA methodologies and tools widely used in community assessment, stakeholder engagement, and participatory planning. Through interactive exercises and case studies, participants learned practical techniques for collecting and analyzing community information while fostering meaningful participation among local stakeholders. The workshop provided hands-on experience with tools such as community mapping, resource mapping, seasonal calendars, problem analysis, and stakeholder analysis, enabling participants to better understand local contexts and identify community needs and potentials.

Throughout the day, participants actively engaged in discussions, group activities, and knowledge-sharing sessions, exchanging experiences from their respective countries and professional backgrounds.
