We are delighted to celebrate her successful completion of the Final Independent Study (IS) Oral Defense.

Her IS title is “A Comparative Genre Analysis of Doctoral Dissertation Acknowledgments Written by Thai and American Postgraduates in Business Studies”

📚 Her study provides valuable insights into how academic writers from different cultural backgrounds construct acknowledgments in doctoral dissertations, shedding light on the intersections of genre, academic discourse, and intercultural communication. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of academic writing practices across cultures and offer implications for genre-based instruction and research in applied linguistics.

🎉🏆 Another proud moment for our M.A. in Applied Linguistics – EPP program!

We are delighted to share that Ms. Chalobon Nuntitrakarn, our M.A. student, presented her research paper entitled:

“Examining English Communication Challenges and Real-World Work Experience among Airline Reservation and Ticketing Staff in Thailand”

The paper was under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Thapanee Khemanuwong and co-authored by Ekkapon Phairot, Tanassanee Jitpanich, and Nagorn Bunyarit.

📍 The paper was presented at the 22nd International Conference under the theme “Research and Innovation Ecosystem” and the topic “Developing Real-Life Learning Experiences: Technology and AI Driving Research and Innovation” hosted by the School of Industrial Education and Technology, KMITL
📅 on 22 May 2026.

🌟 We are especially proud to announce that this paper received the Best Paper Award of the conference! 🏆✨

This study explores the English communication challenges faced by airline reservation and ticketing staff in Thailand, particularly during real interactions with international passengers. The findings reveal that less experienced staff tend to encounter greater communication difficulties, emphasizing the importance of targeted English for Specific Purposes (ESP) training that integrates authentic aviation communication and industry-specific language use. The study also recommends approaches such as Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) and simulation-based learning to strengthen communicative competence in real workplace settings.
