🎉 It’s time to meet our Team Sally Army for the TCS London Marathon

First up… meet Eryn! 👟✨

🏃‍♀️ Eryn shared: “I’m really excited to be running the London Marathon this year. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I started as a complete beginner who couldn’t run 1k without stopping – and now I’m running half marathons!” 💪

This challenge is especially meaningful for Eryn. Not only is she physically challenging herself, she’s running in support of Matumaini School for Children Living with Disability, run by The Salvation Army in .

❤️ The school holds a special place in her family - Eryn’s grandparents spent time living in Tanzania, and the stories they shared about the people and made a lasting impression. By running the marathon, Eryn is honouring their legacy while helping support children at the school. ✨

✨ Meet Chris, another incredible runner taking on the TCS London Marathon 2026!🏃‍♂️

Chris is a lifelong member of The Salvation Army and has already smashed the Royal Parks Half Marathon two years in a row – now he’s ready for the big one! 💪🎉

For Chris, this marathon is about so much more than the miles. He’s deeply passionate about raising funds and awareness for Chatham Salvation Army’s Tweenagers project, supporting the Matumaini School in . 🌍✨

Matumaini – meaning “hope” ❤️ is a Salvation Army-run school supporting around 200 children with disabilities and albinism, providing education, vocational training, and physical therapy.

🙌 Over the years, Chris and the Chatham Tweenagers have passionately fundraised for this incredible work, and we’re so grateful for his continued dedication and heart for making a difference. ❤️

Matumaini Day 24/04/2026

Students from The Salvation Army Matumaini Primary School participated today, 20 October, 2025, in the Temeke Municipality Festival for Students with Disabilities. The Matumaini team showcased how they can write using their feet and mouths, demonstrating in action that disability is not inability. They also had the opportunity to sing and perform short dramas. It was truly a wonderful day as they interacted and shared joyful moments with their peers from various schools for children with special needs.

Today we received a donation of clothes, shoes, and exercise books for our Matumaini children from Grade Six students of HBS. The children were delighted to receive these gifts today.
