Happy Father’s Day from NGMC GME!
Today, we celebrate the fathers who dedicate themselves both at home and in medicine. Your compassion, leadership and commitment to caring for others - whether patients, learners or your own families - make a lasting impact every day.
To all the dads across our Graduate Medical Education community: thank you for the example you set and the difference you make.
Wishing you a well-deserved day of appreciation and time with those you love!

NGMC GME PGY-3 Psychiatry residents, alongside Program Director Dr. Dotson, partner with Unity Project in Gainesville, in collaboration with Good News Clinics and our Family Medicine residency’s street medicine clinic, to provide homeless street outreach.
This is part of their growing commitment to community service! Over the past year, the Psychiatry residency tripled the time PGY-3 residents spend at Good News Clinic and continue to offer weekly forensic psychiatry experiences, where PGY-2 residents collaborate with social workers at the Gainesville Police Department.
Incredible community support by our residency programs!

General surgery residents are gaining hands-on experience with Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA) through high fidelity simulation training, led by Dr. Kuhn, building life-saving skills for a procedure where there's no room for a learning curve. This is an example of how simulation prepares surgeons for one of trauma's most critical interventions.

Congratulations to Dr. Monica Newton on her election to the Board of Directors of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM)!
Each year, ABFM elects only two family medicine physicians to serve in this prestigious role. The ABFM is responsible for establishing the standards for board certification in family medicine and, in recent years, has played a critical role in defining residency training outcomes, which is helping to shape both the scope and future direction of the specialty.
Through its highly innovative foundation, ABFM has also supported residency redesign initiatives and learning collaboratives that have been instrumental in advancing family medicine education nationwide.
Dr. Newton’s election is a significant accomplishment and a testament to her leadership, expertise, and long-standing commitment to advancing family medicine. She will serve a five-year term on the 16-member board, which includes both physician and public representatives.
Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!
