Today in writing class, each third grade class took advantage of the wonderfully warm weather and worked in our outdoor classroom! They used what we learned about descriptive details this year to describe what they saw and experienced outside. Here is some of what our talented writers came up with:
• “The sun is as bright as a flashlight.”
• “The birds sang like a beautiful singing chorus.”
• “I felt fresh air flowing in the sky.”
• “To begin with, I am sitting with my friends outside. The weather out here is beautiful.”

Our amazing 3rd graders have officially finished reading Because of Winn-Dixie! To celebrate, we brought the book to life by hosting our very own party—just like in the story! 🎉 The students enjoyed some of the same foods mentioned in the book, making the experience even more special and memorable.

We also wrapped up our celebration by watching the movie together. We had fun comparing and contrasting the book and movie, while sharing our favorite parts of the story.

We are so proud of their hard work, thoughtful discussions, and excitement for reading. Way to go, readers!

Today students practiced figurative language while working with classmates in Ms. Moore’s class. Learning together helped ideas “stick like glue”, showing that “collaboration can be the key” to deeper understanding.
