Feeling burnt out? My biggest tip is to take a few days to paint something small, just for you. Hanging something new in your space is incredibly refreshing. Overcoming burnout is about working smarter, not harder, and giving yourself permission to rest. Your creativity will thank you.

Octopuses are wonderfully detailed, and yes, they used to take me forever to draw or paint! There was a time when I completely avoided them. But the moment I noticed I was dodging them, I made a conscious decision to face the challenge head-on. I started painting and drawing octopuses all the time, practicing until I truly mastered their flowing movements and intricate details. Now I can create them so much faster, and it feels amazing to freely include these incredible creatures in so many more of my pieces!

I need to show off one of my members artwork! Look how awesome this is!!
Trying to sell art by copying popular trends is a race to the bottom. It floods the market and you'll get lost in the crowd. Focus on what you love instead; that's how you build a unique style and truly stand out.

Some of my tiger paintings and drawings in colored pencil, water soluble graphite, graphite, and acrylics. 🐯
A simple trick makes this underwater painting have depth! This fix can help your paintings too!
Adding a bold reddish tan glaze transforms fur, giving paintings depth and making them pop. This technique, using thinned paint, allows earlier details to shine through, creating a vibrant, lifelike star on canvas. Layering and glazing are key to dimension.
I maybe kinda like the ocean. Just a little.
These are all acrylic paintings except for one that is oil over acrylic and one that is colored pencil.

These are all acrylic paintings except for one that is oil and one that is colored pencil. Can you tell which is which medium?
Stop painting individual lines for realism! Too much random detail makes fur look messy. Focus on shaping natural clumps and clusters instead. Varying direction and length across the animal brings your painting to life.
