We hope you get to soak up some family time outside during the long weekend! ๐

Open Door Preschools
In pursuit of educational equity, Open Door Preschools nurtures and inspires young children of divers A core belief in the worth of every human being.
In 1975 an Austin couple searched in vain for a school that would accept both of their children - one with special needs. Determined to educate their children together, they founded Open Door Preschools to provide the opportunity for children of different abilities to learn and grow together. A legacy of forty-six years of bringing together children with and without disabilities to learn and thriv

A BIG Thank You to the Austin Cosmopolitan Rotary Club!
At Open Door Preschool, we aim to be outside three hours a day because we know that time spent outside is great for growing healthy bodies and minds. In the summer, that means tons of splash time!
Recently, The Austin Cosmopolitan Rotary Club was kind enough to donate brand new splash time sensory kits for each Open Door school! As you can tell, our kids are enjoying them very much!

๐ Terrific Tuesday Celebration!
Want to see what weโve been up to lately at Open Door? Our classrooms have been bursting with creativity and learning!
North School: Our little Astronauts put on their silver space suits to explore the universe! ๐งโ๐
Central School: We hosted some very special visitors from the St. Augustine Occupational Therapy Program! ๐
M-Station School: Our little learners explored big emotions by making thumbprint faces. They practiced identifying different feelings and talked about what makes us feel that way. ๐จ๐ฃ
Every single day, our favorite tiny humans are engaged in rich, hands-on learning experiences designed by our fantastic teachers!
๐Mission Moment: Feeding Our Village
At Open Door Preschool, we take our values seriously. When a family joins our school, they join our village. And we take care of our village!
Every month, our team comes together to pick up 1,000 lbs of groceries from Whole Foods that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Through a special partnership with The Johnson Center for Child Health & Development, we are able to provide a monthly food pantry for our families across all three of our schools.
Because of this incredible food rescue program:
๐Our little learners get to explore new, nutritious foods
๐Our families can pack heartier lunches
๐Our community's tummies and hearts are full!
If you or someone you know is facing food insecurity, you can find a local food pantry resource here: https://www.centraltexasfoodbank.org/find-food-now
None of this would be possible without you. Our Family Cares Program runs on generous donations, grants, and the hard work of our amazing Open Door team. Letโs give a big round of applause to our village for making it happen! ๐

Look at these little dancers getting their wiggles out and learning to listen to directions at the same time! Listening to directions and controlling our bodies are some of the very most important skills to work on before kindergarten. And the best way to learn them is through play!
Just listen to these Little Scientists from our Central School wondering aloud! They made their very own sensory dough out of shaving cream and corn starch and then experimented with mixing colors.
This is why we always say "Mess is Best" at Open Door! When you let kids experiment through hands-on play, the very best kind of learning happens! Child-led, play-based learning is the Open Door Way.
Please welcome the newest member of the ODP Band! We have some very talented little musicians at Open Door!
A big thank you to the fine folks at Deloitte for coming out to volunteer at Open Door Prechool last week! As part of their annual day of service, Impact Day, volunteers from Deloitte helped 30 local non profit organizations and we're honored to have been included.
Our little learners are so grateful for the playground refresh and our teachers loved the reorganized supply closet!๐
At the end of the day, Deloitte even donated all the supplies and materials they bought to make the job happen.
We could not do what we do without the support of our community partners and wonderful village!
