Severe thunderstorm watch until 9pm

Tuesday, 1 pm: Morning storms and clouds have made a big difference in temps so far today. We are now far enough along to confidently say heat index will not recover enough this afternoon to warrant an Excessive Heat Warning. The Warning has been downgraded to Advisory, and previous Advisory reduced in scope. This does not mean the heat risk has totally ended. Still take extra precaution this afternoon to protect yourself from heat and humidity!

Locally for the Charlotte and surrounding areas, a Heat Warning is when we expect a Heat Index of 110° or higher and a heat advisory for 105-109°. More counties could be added.
