🚨Is your Husky's nose turning PINK?! 🚨
It’s that time of year again! If you’ve noticed a pink stripe appearing right down the center of your Husky’s beautiful dark nose, don’t panic—it’s not a medical emergency, it's biological engineering!

This fascinating change is called "Snow Nose" (or Winter Nose), and our latest technical infographic breaks down exactly why it is happening.

Here is the science behind the shift:
☀️ It’s All About the Sunlight: Check out diagram #2. The color in a dog's nose is produced by melanin. In the summer, abundant UV sunlight keeps melanin synthesis (production) running at maximum capacity, resulting in a solid dark nose. Similar to how people’s skin is getting darker because of sun tanning.
❄️ The Winter Shutdown: When winter hits, and UV sunlight decreases, it triggers highly localized hypopigmentation centrally. Basically, the color-producing cells in the very middle of the nose decrease production (check out diagram #3). The edges stay dark, but the center fades! In some cases he whole nose or its greater part is turning pink.
📈 The "Winter Dip" (Chart #4): Unlike standard breeds that maintain consistent pigment year-round, Siberian Huskies have an annual cycle. This chart shows the dramatic "Winter Dip" where pigment drops, only to recover when the sun returns in the spring!
So, that pink stripe isn't a flaw—it's proof your Husky is a biological masterpiece perfectly in tune with the Arctic seasons!

Fatty foods or food that your pet isn't used to can quickly cause illnesses like pancreatitis. Many traditional foods are toxic to dogs and cats - like onions, garlic, scallions, leeks, grapes, raisins, alcohol, xylitol, and unbaked yeast dough. Some common spices are also toxic, including star anise and pumpkin pie spice (nutmeg, cloves, allspice).

Even some safe vegetables, like squash varieties and sweet potato, pose a risk if eaten raw and in large quantities due to their high fiber and tough texture. To avoid stomach upset or intestinal blockages, they are best eaten once cooked and served plain.

She is fully house-trained, up-to-date on all her vaccinations, and spayed. It is important to note that she will need a fully fenced yard for her husky antics.

Luther is a husky who was owner surrendered, and the agelter says he’s calm, walks nicely on leash, and seems to be potty trained. He enjoyed a recent car ride and even paused to drink from a stream, showing off his curious side.

He’s not overly energetic or jumpy and tends to take things in at his own pace. Luther is aware of other dogs, not aggressive but nervous and may be selective, so slow introductions are recommended. He hasn’t shown aggression, but needs time to decompress from the shelter.

He hasn’t shown much interest in treats yet, but he does have that classic husky voice and isn’t shy about using it.

Imagine being blessed with a lifelong person who brings immense joy to your world. Imagine eagerly awaiting their return home every day, ready to shower them with love and affection. This was the sad reality for Choco and Harley, two loving Australian Shepherds who left an indelible mark on the hearts of the vet staff who knew them and couldn’t imagine seeing them killed for the sake of convenience.

Choco, a five-year-old bundle of love, radiates joy and enthusiasm, thriving on affection and playtime. Harley, a shy yet loving three-year-old, adores companionship and exploring the world around her. Both dogs are house-trained, well-behaved, kid friendly and affectionate.

These two beauties are from the NC mountains and are seeking a forever home where they will be cherished and loved unconditionally, together or individually, and showered with the affection they so rightfully deserve.
