Another key to the kind of evolutionary love that we're talking about is paradox. Without a wholesale commitment to embrace paradox on every level, no evolutionary love is possible--because paradox is the nature of the Universe itself.

The greatest vision that we've been given of God, and this is a vision that is at the core of all the major mystical traditions, is that God is a coincidence of opposites. God is working as much in destruction as in creation. God is working as much in chaos as in order. God is working as much in agony as in joy. God is working as much in horror as in beauty. It's easy to say those things, but to actually allow yourself to experience the Divine in all things that are most terrifying to the ego, is the key to entering into the evolutionary fire.
