We’ve been learning about the Middle Ages! To show what they know, our learners decided to build castle and shields! They all did such a fantastic job with these projects!
Our mission is to empower children by becoming more in tune with themselves intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially.

As a THANK YOU to all of our amazing mothers, our learners used one of their hands on Fridays to make candles for their moms✨
Each learner carefully chose scents, colors, and different items to place into each candle. They watched thermometers closely to ensure the wax melted perfectly, scents were mixed in at the right temperatures, and everything would set correctly!
This was such a fun experience and such an exciting moment for our learners to celebrate their moms!
Everyone did their part to give these as surprises to their loved ones🫶🏽

Chemical Reactions!
Today we learned about chemical reactions! We explored this topic by using vinegar and baking soda to inflate balloons, before using the carbon dioxide build up to extinguish our tea candles!
Main takeaway: chemical reactions create things like bubbles, cold air, or heat!
What a fun lab today! 🧪

An activity from last week that was a huge hit with our learners… Building an Aqueduct to mimic those used in Ancient Roam!
Learners used recycled materials and aluminum foil to help water move from start to finish.
Favorite fact from this lesson: Aqueducts in Ancient Roam could move as much as 11 BILLION gallons of water a year!

We’ve been learning about water pollution, the water cycle, and today we learned how to build our own water filters!
Learners got to build working water filters and watched as pollutants were sorted out in different layers of our filtration system!

Human impact on the environment: Water Pollution
Our learners were hard at work in order to determine how oil impacts animals like ducks!
Using real duck feathers, we attempted to clean oil from our ducks before trying to fully clean the water ways.
This was such a fun way to explore this topic with our crew💪🏽✨

Our Friday was filled with mindfulness that came from the world of Pokémon, curiosity, and a lot of appreciation for this beautiful day!
We were so happy to participate in yoga by Kidding Around Yoga with Synthia, especially with a morning tailored specifically to the interests of our learners!
We then got to explore the nature center at Reedy Creek park and nature preserve! We had such a fun time!

Last week, our learners got to travel back in time while learning about and digging for fossils! Everyone was able to take some pieces of history home with them!
We also got to travel through the stars in the planetarium! Some learners even participated in trivia, using prior knowledge learned from some of our science classes!
We are so proud of our learners for such a great day at the Schiele Museum!
We thank all of our staff and family volunteers who make awesome day trips like this possible!
