This is what a personalized tribute looks like.

They wanted something personal. Something green and natural that reflected his love of camping, fishing, the outdoors. So I made his funeral arrangement in a tackle box and filled it with moss, rosemary (for remembrance), and live plants that could be replanted and live on past the service.

Thank you for the stories. Thank you for the honor. I’m thrilled to know next time you go fishing he will be right there with you.

I'm getting ready to submit a course proposal for University of Richmond's Osher Lifelong Learning Program. What do you think is important to present for senior learners in our community?

Chesterfield Public Library just scheduled four death-y workshops for fall... including a mock home funeral, a grief workshop, ancestral veneration, AND a hope chest workshop!

Wednesday, we will be having a meeting to discuss the value of forming a death/bereavement collaborative in the area. If you have thoughts on how the community-death/grief workers and others-can support each other at end of life and in grief, please consider coming. That said, I know it's a busy time of year. If you are interested and can't make it, message me. We'll figure it out!

We had a great conversation at the North Courthouse Library last night. A number of local doulas and curious community members discussed what doula work looks like, how each doula does the work differently, the ways we work in the community, and much more! Got me thinking that we may need more regular discussions like this one! Pictured, eight local doulas who were part of this conversation!
