Summer break doesn’t have to mean a break from bilingualism. The best part? None of these feel like “school.”

Before classrooms, apps, or programs — there was you. Every time you spoke your language at home, you were teaching. Every song, every story, every “te quiero” at bedtime planted a seed.

Your child’s bilingualism doesn’t start at school. It starts in your kitchen, your car, your arms.

Keep going. What you’re doing matters more than you know.

Ginna, a bilingual teacher, reached out to share that she transformed one of our ECE messages into a beautiful bilingual classroom display - designed to welcome her students and their families into a space where both languages are celebrated.
When educators create environments that honor the whole child, it ripples outward.
Families feel seen, students feel belonging, communities grow stronger.
We love seeing our work show up in spaces like this. 💛

Translanguaging isn’t a shortcut — it’s a research-backed strategy that honors the full linguistic toolkit your students bring to the classroom. When students can brainstorm in their home language and then share in the target language, they’re not avoiding the work. They’re doing more of it. You’re not lowering the bar. You’re meeting students where they are — and that’s exactly what great teachers do. 🩵

Raising a bilingual child isn’t just about language lessons. It’s about giving them two ways to move through the world — two ways to think, connect, and belong. 🌎💕

We don’t just speak two languages — we love in two languages. One for the world, and one that goes straight to the heart. That’s the gift our families carry every single day. 💙

It wasn’t always about the lesson. Sometimes it was just about feeling seen. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

The rights people have today didn’t come from nowhere. They came from ordinary people who organized and demanded better. May Day is about honoring that — and continuing it.

Celebrate every word, every mistake, and every breakthrough. Your child is doing something amazing.

Lleva a tus hijos.

This week I visited Rieles y Raíces — an exhibit honoring the stories of Mexican and Mexican-American railroad workers, curated by my friend Ismael.
These are the stories we rarely see on classroom walls or in the books we hand our children — stories of sacrifice, migration, and identity carried across borders and generations.
That's at the heart of everything I do with  — elevating our histories, celebrating who we are, and sharing our culture with our children so they grow up rooted in it.
If you're in Chicago, go see this exhibit. Take your kids. Walk through it together and let the conversation happen.
Our roots are our strength.
