Today we commemorate June 19, 1865—the day when the last enslaved people in the United States learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

As a Mercy community, we honor this day of remembrance and its call for reflection, education and action. May we continue to walk with humility, advocate for equity, and work to dismantle racism.

We had a great time this week with our Golf Campers, who joined our varsity golf coaches and players for three days of learning and fun at Meadow Links Golf Academy! Campers focused on the fundamentals of pitching, chipping, putting, and full swing, and then played nine holes on the last day! Thanks to all who joined us!

Thanks to all who joined us for our summer Art Camps, led by art teacher Mrs. Natalie Fischer! First-third graders enjoyed a "3-D Under the Sea" camp, where they researched different types of fish and their habitats, created a sculpture based on their research, then glazed, painted and assembled their fish and habitat display! Fourth - eighth graders enjoyed a Drawing Camp, where they explored a variety of materials and techniques to create their own still life drawing. At the end of both camps, a mini art show was held for the campers to display their artwork for parents and family members!

The second half of our travel group’s trip to Italy included an additional day in Florence, where they had some free time to explore the city! Some visited the Academia and saw the statue of David, others crossed the river and went to the rose gardens, while others explored the city and visited the Uffizi Gallery. After leaving Florence, they visited St. Francis Basilica in Assisi, as well as the resting place of St. Carlo Acutis, on their way to Rome. While in Rome, they visited the Trevi Fountain, enjoyed a walking tour of the Colosseum and the Roman Forums, and explored Piazza Navona. They also enjoyed a walking tour of the gardens at Castel Gandolfo (the Pope’s summer home), toured the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel, and visited St. Peter’s Basilica. They ended the trip perfectly with lots of gelato! Thank you to our travel coordinator, Mrs. Lisa Heiert, and all the chaperones, students and travelers for a fantastic once-in-a-lifetime trip! 🧡
