๐Ÿ… Project Learning Tree is a national, scienceโ€‘based environmental education program that equips educators, youth leaders, and community members with highโ€‘quality, handsโ€‘on resources. Through awardโ€‘winning curriculum focused on forests, wildlife, water, and sustainability, PLT helps learners build critical thinking skills, connect with the natural world, and explore realโ€‘world environmental concepts in meaningful ways.

๐Ÿƒ There are two pathways to get involved. As a PLT Educator, you gain access to readyโ€‘toโ€‘use activities, practical teaching strategies, and curriculum designed to bring environmental learning to life in classrooms and community programs. If you choose to become a PLT Facilitator, you take on a leadership role, training other educators, supporting professional development, and helping expand environmental education across Ohio.

๐Ÿ”” Stay up to date with Project Learning Tree Ohio and join us at one of the many workshops we host throughout the state. For questions, please contact [email protected] or visit https://ohiodnr.gov/plt to learn more.

When someone says the word "gall," the horned oak galls that plague pin oaks in the St. Louis area may come to mind. But did you know that there are an estimated 210,000 types of insect-induced galls in the world, 2,000 of which occur in the U.S.? Each gall is a unique work of art specific to the gall former and serves as a key structure that insects rely on to complete their life cycles.

Join Daria McKelvey, Horticulture Supervisor for the Kemper Center for Home Gardening at the Missouri Botanical Garden for a webinar that takes a closer look at the mysterious, yet beautiful, world of plant galls and how they are formed, where they can be found, and the most common types seen in the Midwest.

This free webinar, to be held via Zoom, will include a presentation and a live question-and-answer session.
