South Garland HS is having a second round for freshmen and JV Cheer!

This is the only campus offering a second round this year.

Garland ISD Fine Arts is proud to present the newest member of the world famous Kilgore College Rangerettes! Our very own Captain for the Sachse High School Swingsters, Daisy Ammerman, was just selected this past week to be a member of the renowned drill team.

Known for their iconic red, white, and blue Western-style uniforms, the Rangerettes represent the gold standard of collegiate dance precision. Their legendary prestige is built on a history of high-profile appearances, including performing at every Cotton Bowl Classic since 1951, multiple presidential inaugurations, and international tours across Europe and Asia. To this day, earning a spot on the line remains one of the most competitive and revered achievements in the dance world.

We are so excited for Daisy to start this amazing college dance experience! Congratulations!

We are thrilled to announce that the Lakeview Centennial HS Percussion Ensemble, led by director Joshua Gonzalez, was selected to perform at this year's 80th Annual Midwest Clinic!

The Midwest Clinic is an international band and orchestra convention that annually hosts over 18,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 40 countries, making it one of the largest music education conferences in the world. Selection to perform at The Midwest Clinic is a significant honor that recognizes the exceptional artistry, preparation, and the educational impact of the ensemble on an international level. Each year, numerous ensembles from around the world apply for the opportunity to appear on the Midwest stage, and their selection represents a remarkable achievement and is one of the highest honors a school music program can receive. Only five high school percussion ensembles are invited to participate worldwide, making this an extraordinary feat not only for the students and music department, but for our entire district and community. Help us congratulate them on this momentous accomplishment!

Garland High School is incredibly proud to share that the Wind Ensemble has advanced to the Area round of the TMEA Class 6A Honor Band competition.

The TMEA Honor Band process is one of the most prestigious and competitive concert band events in Texas. Ensembles are evaluated through a blind recording process and ranked against other outstanding programs in their classification. Advancing from Region to Area is a significant achievement and an important milestone for our program.

Garland advanced alongside the Wind Ensembles from Forney, Rockwall, and Sachse High Schools. This accomplishment reflects the tremendous musicianship, discipline, and commitment of our students and staff.

We are grateful for the support of our campus administration, Fine Arts leadership, families, feeder programs, and everyone who has contributed to the growth of these students.

The Sachse HS Wind Ensemble submitted for the 6A TMEA Honor Band competition last month. There are 3 rounds to the competition. Region, Area and State.

June 5th, the Region 3 listening session was held on at The Middle School Performing Arts Center in Rockwall, TX. Five judges adjudicated seven bands. Four bands advanced to Area.

The Sachse HS Wind Ensemble placed third in the Region round today and advanced to Area. The Area listening session will be held at Wylie East HS on June 16th and 17th where three bands will advance to the State level and compete for an opportunity to be named the 2027 TMEA 6A Honor Band.

The Honor Band Concert will be held at the Lila Cochrell Theatre in San Antonio in February of 2027 at the annual TMEA clinic and convention.
