Years ago I started teaching kids Spanish — and I had no idea how much they were about to teach me.
I learned that kids don't acquire a language by listening. Neither do adults. They learn it the moment they actually need to speak — when there's no other option.
I learned that consistency beats intensity, every single time. 30 minutes three times a week will outperform 3 hours once a week. Always.
And the biggest one? Joy isn't a bonus feature. It's the mechanism. I've watched kids who dreaded Spanish class transform into kids who can't wait to log on — and that shift is when everything changes.
These three things are the foundation of everything I built at TruFluency Kids.

Moving to Paris with my 4-year-old trilingual daughter, running two companies across different time zones — none of that scares me.
Her scooter does.
She weaves through the sidewalk like it's a real-life game of Frogger. 😭
Does your kid do something that gives you a daily heart attack? Tell me below.
I moved to Paris with my 4-year-old trilingual daughter.
It terrified me. New school, new language, new everything.
But watching what growing up between languages and cultures does to how Isa sees the world — her curiosity, her comfort with uncertainty, her ability to adapt — it's been worth every scary moment.
If you're scared of making a change you know deep down will help your child grow — do it. Trust that feeling. 🤍
What's the hardest decision you've made as a mom? Tell me below. I read every single one.
When Spanish stops feeling like homework — and starts feeling like this. 🤍
A native teacher asking real questions. A child who is actually thinking in Spanish. Responding. Connecting.
Not because they memorized it. Because they've been speaking it — every single class.
This is what the right program actually produces.

People mean well. I genuinely believe that.
But the advice floating around about raising bilingual kids? Most of it is not based in any kind of reality. It’s based on vibes.
“Just put them in a Spanish-speaking environment and they’ll pick it up.” Let me just relocate my whole family real quick.
“There are so many free apps. Why pay for classes?” You know what else is free? YouTube workout videos. And yet personal trainers still have jobs. Because being around something is not the same as being coached through it.
“It’ll just happen if you expose them enough.” This one is my personal favorite — because it’s almost true. And that’s what makes it so sneaky.
Exposure alone — without personal interaction and language production — produces children who can recognize Spanish when they hear it. And cannot produce a single sentence.
It is a fact of what to do to produce a bilingual child. We don’t have to guess at it. It’s not a mystery.
Which of these have you heard before? Tell me below.

This is exactly what I built TruFluency Kids for.
Not a child repeating words from a script. Not a child clicking answers on an app.
A real child — having a real back and forth conversation — in Spanish. From day one.
A real teacher asking real questions and giving your child the time and space to actually respond. In Spanish. Every single class.
Because fluency doesn't come from hearing the language. It comes from needing to use it.
This is what your child could sound like. 🤍

Hi all – I’m Micah, founder of TruFluency Kids Spanish, an online Spanish school with 9 levels of fluency from complete beginner to advanced speaker, and I speak 4 languages, but flunked out of college Spanish, because academic language classes aren't the same as becoming truly fluent. Mother of a trilingual little girl, and I would love to help you raise bilingual kids.
I'm not going to shame you for trying the apps.
Honestly — we all did. I did grammar books for YEEEEARS before I realized that I wasn't getting the results that I wanted: actual speaking!. We also did the Podcasts where you repeat what they say. I even moved to Spain for months. And I still didn't get fluent because I was not interacting enough.
Because here's the truth about language apps — they are designed for engagement. Not for fluency. Those are completely different things.
Your child can tap the right fish, finish every level, keep a 300-day streak — and still not be able to speak Spanish like a real person.
Not your fault. You can't learn a language with a language app. Nobody can.
The only thing that actually worked for me? A real person. Asking me questions. Waiting for me to respond. Again and again and again.
That's it. That's the whole method.
That's what we do at TruFluency Kids. A real native teacher. Real questions. Real back and forth. Every single class.

Raising a bilingual child is not a mystery.
The science has been settled for decades. Children acquire language through real interaction — not apps, not passive exposure, not vibes.
Most programs just haven't caught up.
You're not here because you fell for the easy answers. You're here because you want the real thing.
Save this before you take any more bilingual advice.

Real kids. Real teachers. Real Spanish. 🤍
No driving. No rushing. No trying to find parking. You literally just open the laptop, sit them down, and watch them have the time of their life — in Spanish.
A real native teacher asking real questions — and a child who is actually thinking in Spanish. Responding. Connecting. Not repeating words from a flashcard. Actually speaking.
¿Qué día es hoy? ¿Está soleado o nublado?
That's a real question from a real class. And that child answered — in Spanish — without thinking twice.
Because here's what I know after years of doing this — a child who is having fun is a child who is learning. Every single time. When Spanish feels like play — kids stop resisting it. They stop saying it's boring. They start asking when the next class is.
That shift doesn't happen by accident. It happens because the right teacher knows how to make a child feel safe enough to try — and excited enough to keep going.
Maximum 4-5 students. 100% in Spanish from the first hello to the last goodbye. Live. Real. Every single class.
You don't need to speak Spanish yourself. You don't even need to leave your house. You just need the right teacher, using the right method — and a consistent schedule.
That's what we do at TruFluency Kids. 🤍

Bilingual kids don't just speak two languages.
Their brains actually work differently.
They outperform monolingual peers in cognitive flexibility — the ability to switch between competing ideas, filter distractions, and see problems from more than one angle.
Scientists call this the "bilingual advantage." It shows up in academic performance. In social intelligence. In how kids handle ambiguity.
Which, by the way, is the defining skill of the 21st century.
I think about this a lot as a parent myself. Watching what growing up between languages does to how Isa sees the world — her curiosity, her comfort with uncertainty, her ability to adapt — I can't separate who she is from the fact that she has lived inside more than one language.
The brain your child has right now is more receptive to language acquisition than it will ever be again. Not more receptive than last year. More receptive than next year.
