State Directors are an integral part of the National History Day program, working behind the scenes to empower students in their study of history. Traveling with a delegation to the National Contest is one of the highlights!

Happy Juneteenth from NHD! Juneteenth celebrates the day in 1865 that enslaved Black people in Galveston, TX, finally learned of their freedom. Even though the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 declared that enslaved people in Confederate territory were free, many enslaved people were purposely uninformed of the Proclamation.

Congrats goes out to Riva for earning the special award for Best Project honoring African American history. We are so proud of you!
