Far Away Friends exists to equip youth in rural Uganda with the tools to end cycles of generational poverty forever.

06/23/2026

According to The Uganda Demographic and Health Survey (UDHS) 2022, 1 in 4 girls in rural Uganda becomes pregnant by age 19 and hence drops of of school prematurely. This is partly due to the challenges these girls encounter while in school.

Our Skills for Life program was designed specifically to help keep more girls in school.

This program equips girls with the tools and knowledge they need to navigate the challenges they encounter on their academic journey.

As we continue to ensure that girls in Amolatar district stay in school, we invite you to join the Far Away Friends Community.

Your donation can equip a girl at one of our partner schools with a 1-year supply of reusable menstrual hygiene pads, un**es and a kit so she never misses a day of school due to her period!

Ten years ago, a school opened in Namasale, Uganda with a simple, radical belief: where you are born should never determine your future.

Today, Global Leaders Primary has 500+ students, a 100% national exam pass rate every year since 2018, and a Charity Navigator 4-star, 99% rating.

Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and potential of every African child.

The Day of the African Child reminds us of the brave students of Soweto who stood up for their right to quality education and a brighter future. Their courage continues to inspire us to create a world where every child can learn, grow, dream, and thrive.

In Amolatar many children have the ambition to learn but they are often kept out of school due to conditions beyond their control like lack of water sources and poor sanitation facilites especially for the girl.

To keep children in school, through our schools for school program, we are promoting Water, sanitation and Hygiene(WASH) projects for both our model school, Global leaders primary and the community.

As we continue ensuring that every child gets access to resources they need to build a bright future for themselves, we invite you to join us.

Donate towards the implementation of more WASH Projects through our Schools For Schools Program in schools Amolatar district.

Today, Chris is a Senior Four student at Namasale Seed Secondary School, still holding tightly to his dream of becoming an engineer.

In 2016, P**e Chris was among the very first pupils to walk through the gates of Global Leaders Primary School. Like many children whose lives have been transformed through Far Away Friends, Chris was given something powerful: the opportunity to dream.

Today, he continues to pursue his education with determination, aspiring to reach the highest levels of academic achievement and one day become an engineer.

As Global Leaders Primary School celebrates 10 years of transforming lives and shaping future generations, we remain committed to raising future leaders, nurturing the faith to dream, promoting academic excellence, and creating brighter futures for thousands of children across rural Uganda while breaking cycles of generational poverty.

Chris's story is just one of many made possible through your generosity.

Many children in Namasale, sitting down at a computer is not a common occurance. Less than 10% of schools in Uganda have a working computer lab. Most students reach university having never used a computer.

In October 2023, that changed for Global Leaders Primary School

Through a partnership with Team4Tech and the BABA Foundation in London, Far Away Friends opened the Global Access Computer Literacy Lab at the school.

Twenty desktop units were received, a working network, multimedia tools and surveillance cameras to keep the equipment safe so it can keep being used.

Today, you can help continue to fuel exploration and learning at Global Access Computer Lab!

When Global Leaders opened in 2016, 50 students walked through the gate.

Ten years later, more than 500 do.

That growth didn't come from luck. It came from a community that kept showing up and donors who make it possible to say yes to every child who come's knocking.

There's still more knocking to answer.

THE IMPOSSIBLE MADE POSSIBLE

Akello Sarah is one of the pioneer pupils of Global Leaders Primary School. She joined the school in 2016 at Primary Four level, at a time when she had academic challenges.

She recounts of how the support she received from her teachers when she had just joined the school helped her overcome the academic challenges, to the extent that she developed the confidence to pursue the scientific path way into her future.

Sarah is currently completing her first year of study at Jerusalem School of Health Sciences, Lira. She is pursuing a medical course. She shares that she is deeply grateful for the support she has received from Far Away Friends all through her academic journey.

As Global Leaders Primary School celebrates 10 years of impacting and shaping the future generation, we continue to uphold our commitment to shaping future leaders, fostering the faith to dream and modeling academic excellence.

Sarah is living in her dream but their many more who are still dreaming.

100% pass rate. Not one year. Not a good stretch. Every year since 2018.

In Uganda, the Primary Leaving Exam determines a child's entire secondary school path.

At Global Leaders Primary in Namasale, every student who has sat that exam has passed it.

That is not an accident. It is what happens when you invest in trained teachers, proper classrooms, and children who are fed, safe, and believed in.

$30/month makes you part of that.
