Hey Followers and fronterizos! We need a few volunteers to help cover all our time slots and table at the super cool event that is the Femme Frontera Film Festival! What does tabling involve? Talking to people and telling them about the awesome things that Movimiento ChucanX has done—easy as that. It’ll be fun, you’ll definitely meet new people, and you can watch some of the films after! Last Sunday, Movimiento ChucanX performed our fourth historical walking tour. The focus was Smeltertown, an often ignored part of El Paso’s rich and complex history. Movimiento members dressed as and acted out roles including the Rio Grande, the railroad, the famous (or infamous) Asarco tower, indigenous voices, Asarco workers, and more!
Thank you to all who attended, great job to ALL the Movimiento ChucanX performers, and thank you for sharing about your family’s legacy in Smeltertown!
