Having fun in the pool with your child is so important, but safety should always come first. Teaching children survival skills in the water is essential, but it’s just as important for parents to learn how to help their child continue progressing and practicing those skills safely. Water safety isn’t only for the child — it’s for parents and guardians too. Together, we can help create confident, safer swimmers both in and around the water. Sign up today!

Did you know May is Water Safety Month? One thing many parents don’t realize is that the color of your child’s swimwear can make a huge difference in how visible they are in the water. Bright, neon colors are much easier to spot and contrast better against the water, helping improve visibility. When choosing swimwear, avoid colors that blend into the water and opt for bright shades that stand out. What color is your child’s swimwear?
It’s Water Safety Month, so let’s talk about flotation devices.
Many flotation devices can create a false sense of security and encourage bad habits in the water, such as lifting the head up, dropping the feet, and placing children in a vertical drowning position. If your child is enrolled in swim lessons, using flotation devices outside of lessons can often cause regression in the skills they’ve worked hard to learn.
Flotation devices should only be used in or around open water when appropriate and always with close adult supervision.
