SPED Zoom Interview - Michele Di Sclafani - Jacketed Piping
Join SPED Saturday June 17, 2023 11:00 AM North America Eastern Time for this event.
Michele Di Sclafani, after graduating in 2004 from Milan Polytechnic in Mechanical Engineering, has been working in Saipem S.p.A. as a Piping Stress Engineer and has gained experience in the design and analysis of different piping systems in petrochemical and fertilizer plants.
"Jacketed piping systems feature a core pipe surrounded by a jacket pipe. The process fluid flows through the core pipe, while a heating/cooling medium flows in the annular space between the core and jacket pipes. This training session will introduce an overview of the various types of these piping systems, the peculiarities of their design and construction, as well as their critical issues and pitfalls."

"Working with Point Clouds"
Properly scanned and registered point clouds are a huge brownfield project resource but can be challenging to use due to file sizes and the possibility of human error in interpreting and transpositioning as-built data from point cloud to 3D model.
If you use point clouds to extact data from laser scans, ScanSap is worth looking at as a solution for navigation and manipulation of point clouds as well as semi-automatic detection of scanned elements in the cloud (existing piping, for example).
"Use ScanSap to quickly clip areas of the point cloud and export them as separate Autodesk Recap files. The workflow is extremely fast."
