🚨‼️Warning long post alert: A Special Tribute 🚨‼️
In the Webb household, Father’s Day often comes and goes before we even have a chance to celebrate it. For the last nine years, our Indy Juneteenth Celebration has always fallen during Father’s Day weekend sometimes the day before Father’s Day itself.
While many families are preparing to celebrate, we’re preparing for a parade, a festival, fireworks, and a celebration for an entire city.
What many people don’t see is the man behind the scenes.
My husband, James, works tirelessly to make sure everything is in place. The sponsorships, contracts, vendor communications, emails, phone calls, logistics, sound, entertainment, permits, and countless details that come with producing an event of this magnitude he handles it all. Yet somehow, he still shows up every day as an amazing husband and father.
This year was especially heavy. As we prepared for our 9th Annual Indy Juneteenth Celebration, he was also carrying the weight of missing his brother. The 1st anniversary of his brother’s birthday in heaven , which falls just a few days before Juneteenth, was not easy. Yet he continued to show up, push forward, and give his all with strength, determination, and grace.
On top of that, he graduated with his master’s degree just a month ago. He celebrated his daughter’s graduation and all the emotions that come with watching your child prepare for the next chapter of life. Through every challenge, every late night, and every busy day, he remained committed to serving this community.
Yesterday, we celebrated our 9th Annual Indy Juneteenth Celebration, and the feedback was overwhelming. The smiles, the love, the positive comments, and so many people saying it was the best one yet.
What people may never fully understand is what it takes to make something like that happen. The sacrifices. The pressure. The sleepless nights. The emotional weight.
And if you really want to know the kind of man James Webb is, let me tell you this. After everything it took to pull off yesterday’s celebration, after the long hours and not getting home until after midnight, he was back up and out of the house before I even got up this morning.
Today, he’s spending his Father’s Day helping one of his clients. He’s supervising a fatherhood visit so that a father can spend time with his child. Even on Father’s Day, after giving so much of himself to our community this week, he’s still serving others and helping families stay connected. That’s who he is. That’s his heart.
James Webb, you are exceptional. You are amazing. You are a leader, a servant, a devoted father, and an incredible husband. I’ve always known the kind of man you are, but today I want you to know it too. You are the man, and I couldn’t be more proud of you.
This city recognizes and appreciates what you do, and so do I. We may not be from Indianapolis, but we’ve been here for 15 years, and we are strong believers that whatever God places in our hands deserves our absolute best. You have given this city your heart, your dedication, and your commitment year after year.
Thank you for leading with purpose, serving with excellence, and never giving up, even when the load is heavy.
City of Indianapolis, help me show my husband, James Webb, some love and gratitude today. Take a moment to wish him a Happy Father’s Day and let him know how much he is appreciated.
Happy Father’s Day to an incredible husband, father, leader, community servant, and all-around amazing man. You deserve to be celebrated too. ❤️🙏🏾
