How many years have you spent pretending you’re over it?

The betrayal.

The abandonment.

The person who hurt you.

The mistake you still can’t forgive yourself for.

You tell yourself you’ve moved on.

But if it still triggers anger…

If it still changes how you show up in life…

“I erased my PTSD.”

Those weren’t my words.

They came from a client who stood up and shared what happened after learning The Goran Technique.

A friend told me he’s watched The Office nine times.

Nine.

Not because it’s the best show ever made.

Because it feels safe when life feels overwhelming.

That stuck with me.

When people are emotionally overloaded, they often return to the same shows, songs, foods, and routines.

Not out of laziness.

Out of comfort.

Predictability helps the nervous system feel safe.

That’s why emotional overwhelm doesn’t always look dramatic.

Sometimes it looks like binge-watching the same series.

Doomscrolling for hours.

Or keeping constant background noise on because silence feels uncomfortable.

People think they’re relaxing.

Childhood stuff. Fear of rejection. Need for control. All of it.

Still waking up in the middle of the night with his chest tight.

Still reacting to small things at home.
