Union Adventist University’s newest graduate program has just been awarded a seven-year accreditation β€” the highest possible endorsement for a new master’s of occupational therapy program.

Union recently introduced the only OT β€œbridge” program in the Midwest. β€œIt is designed to build on the foundation that occupational therapy assistants already have,” says program director Emily Rumery (center). β€œThe full-time pathway allows students to complete the master's program in just two years. The part-time pathway extends that out by one additional year.”

Students like the hybrid format which blends online courses and two on-site lab experiences each semester. β€œMy responsibilities of being a mother, wife, taking care of my home and also my duties at my work are priorities for me,” says Maria Reynosa Martinez from Grand Island, Nebraska. β€œSo this program lets me be flexible and not neglect any other important roles in my life.”

Rosie Galbraith, a mother of seven from Hamilton, Missouri, appreciates the asynchronous schedule. β€œWe have band concerts and sports and all the things, and so it made it easy for me to manage my schedule and do my homework when I need to do it,” she said.

"I'm happy about such a good report from the accreditors, but not surprised,” says Union VP for Academic Administration, Debbie Eno. β€œDr. Rumery and the faculty have done an impeccable job of setting up this bridge program. Our students couldn't hope for a better learning experience on their way to getting a master's degree."
