The goal of the Apprenticeship Readiness Fund of the LAOC Building Trades Council is to expand the MC3 training programs throughout the Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

🧱 We’re continuing our tour of apprenticeship programs across LA and OC with a look inside the Cement Masons JATC, another hands-on pathway in the union building trades.

🎨 As Apprenticeship Week continues, ARF is highlighting the Glaziers Local 636 apprenticeship, one of several craft apprenticeship pathways held at the International Finishing Trades Institute building.

Glaziers work with glass and architectural metal, installing systems such as windows, storefronts, curtain walls, and other glass features that shape the look and function of buildings. Each craft has its own training path and requirements, which is why ARF helps individuals explore the program that best fits their goals.

🏗️ As part of Apprenticeship Week, we’re giving you a look inside the Field Ironworkers Apprenticeship & Training Program in La Palma and highlighting another strong pathway into the union building trades. ✨It’s Apprenticeship Week, and we’re kicking things off with a tour of SMART LOCAL 105 - Sheet Metal Workers Local 105 and giving you a closer look at another skilled trade that helps keep our communities running.

From fabricating and installing duct systems to supporting heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work, sheet metal workers are an important part of residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Their work takes precision, technical knowledge, and strong attention to detail.

This week, the Apprenticeship Readiness Fund is showing up in your community and creating real pathways into union careers.

Join us at our apprenticeship and career fair events this week, including the PCL Construction company Long Beach Airport Workforce Hiring Event on Monday, April 6, the California Department of Rehabilitation Apprenticeship Fair on Tuesday, April 7 from 10 AM to 1 PM at the CA Endowment, 1000 N. Alameda St., Los Angeles, and the South Bay Workforce Investment Board - SBWIB / Phillips 66 Job Fair on Wednesday, April 8 from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM at the Carson Event Center.

Special invitation to all MC3 graduates: We especially encourage you to attend the Long Beach Airport event and connect with this exciting opportunity. The flyers include event details, time slots, locations, and registration information. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

Amanda Winter marks a major milestone as the Apprenticeship Readiness Fund’s 2,000th graduate successfully placed into a registered union apprenticeship. As a Women In Non Traditional Employment Roles graduate supported through the HRTP grant, Amanda was placed into Plumbers Local 78's apprenticeship program and hired by Murray Company Mechanical Contractors

Her success reflects what the Apprenticeship Readiness Fund is all about: creating real pathways into union careers, connecting participants to quality training opportunities, and helping more people build strong futures in the trades. We’re proud to celebrate Amanda and this exciting achievement.
