One month ago, UCLA hosted its inaugural Community Partnership Summit, bringing together faculty, students, funders, and community leaders to advance equitable, community-driven collaboration across Los Angeles.

Hosted by the Center for Community Engagement, the Summit highlighted the power of trust-based partnerships in addressing critical issues including housing, health, climate resilience, education, and more.

We are proud to celebrate Fiona Lu, recently selected as a Newman Civic Fellow. CCE was honored to support her nomination for this national fellowship, administered by Campus Compact, which recognizes student leaders with an exceptional commitment to civic engagement.

Fiona’s work demonstrates the power of equipping young people with the tools to engage, organize, and influence the systems that shape their lives. This year, she is also conducting research as an Astin Community Engaged Scholar and partnering with Changeist, an organization that inspires middle and high school students to participate in civic life.
