MAJOR NEWS FOR LOUISIANA FAMILIES! 🔴
Huge shifts are happening in special education advocacy, and it’s a massive win for parents! 👏👏
House Bill 342 has officially passed, making Louisiana one of the first states in the South to flip the script on special education due process hearings.
What does this actually mean for you? 🤔
In the past, if a parent felt their child’s IEP (Individualized Education Program) or special education services—like vital dyslexia therapy—weren't being properly provided, the burden of proof fell on the parents. You had to prove the school was falling short.
Now, the burden of proof shifts to the school district. Why this is a game-changer:
The school must prove they are providing a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) and meeting your child's needs.
Leveling the playing field: Parents no longer have to spend thousands of dollars trying to "prove" a school isn't doing its job.
More accountability: It places the responsibility squarely where it belongs—on the educational system to ensure our dyslexic learners are getting the exact tools, accommodations, and therapy they need to thrive.
Navigating the school system can feel like an uphill battle, but this legislation is a giant step toward protecting families and ensuring every child gets the support they deserve.
Share to spread the word and drop a ❤️ if you’re celebrating this win for our kids!

Today we are celebrating a very special accomplishment at SRDT 🎉
I first met Christine years ago when I began working with her daughter in therapy. From the very beginning, she was eager to learn everything she could to help her child succeed. A few years later, she realized that two of her three children are dyslexic and she went all in to help them.
As SRDT continued to grow, I knew Christine would be an amazing fit for our team. Two years ago, she joined SRDT and began her dyslexia therapist training journey. Since then, she has become an integral part of our team while providing exceptional therapy and excelling in her rigorous training program which required over 200 hours of graduate level instruction and 700 hours of supervised practicum.
This week, we are thrilled to celebrate Christine for being named valedictorian of her class and officially graduating from her dyslexia therapy training program 🎓👏
Next up is her certification exam to officially become a CALT and we could not be more proud of her.
Help us congratulate Christine on this incredible accomplishment ❤️
