Royal capped his junior season by winning the state championship in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.17 seconds, breaking a composite state record that had stood since 1980. He also captured the 200-meter title and anchored the state champion 4x100 relay team.

Earlier in the month, Royal ran a 10.20 in the 100 meters and helped the Crusaders set a school record of 41.34 seconds in the 4x100 relay. The nation’s No. 1 wide receiver in the Class of 2027 was also named September Athlete of the Month for football.
