“Today is a big day for me.” 💙🎓

At Travis Hill NOLA, every diploma tells a story of perseverance.

For one of our graduates, this moment didn’t come easy. There were challenges, setbacks, and days when giving up felt like the easier choice. But with the support of teachers who believed in him, encouraged him, and refused to let him quit, he kept going.

In this moment he has something no one can take away from him: his education.

His words remind us why this work matters.

“School was hard for me. Sometimes I wanted to give up. But my teachers helped me stay focused and keep trying. I’m happy to be here.”

We are proud of every student who chooses to keep showing up, keep learning, and keep believing in what’s possible.

Congratulations, graduate. Your story is still being written, and this is only the beginning.

Freedom. Hope. Opportunity.

Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is more than a moment in history, it is an ongoing pursuit of justice, dignity, and opportunity for all.

At Travis Hill NOLA, we honor the spirit of Juneteenth by creating pathways for young people to reclaim their futures through education, support, and second chances. Every day, we witness the power of learning to unlock potential, restore hope, and help students see possibilities beyond their current circumstances.

As we celebrate this important day, we reflect on how far we’ve come while recommitting ourselves to the work that remains. We believe every young person deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a brighter future.

Today, we celebrate resilience. We celebrate progress. We celebrate freedom.

Happy Juneteenth from the Travis Hill NOLA family. ❤️💛💚🖤

There is nothing more powerful than hearing the story directly from the student.

As he prepared to receive his diploma, this graduate reflected on the journey that brought him to this moment.

He shared that school wasn’t always easy. There were times he wanted to give up. But the encouragement, support, and belief of his teachers helped him stay focused, keep working, and keep moving forward.

Today, he stands as a graduate.

His story is a reminder that success isn’t about never facing obstacles. It’s about having the courage to keep going and the support system that helps you along the way.

At Travis Hill NOLA, we believe every student deserves people who see their potential, even when they can’t see it themselves.

Congratulations to this graduate and to every member of the Travis Hill family who helped make this moment possible. 💙🎓

“Y’all have a village.”

Those simple words from Sheriff Michelle Woodfork carried a powerful message for the graduates of Travis Hill NOLA.

In her first Travis Hill graduation ceremony, Sheriff Woodfork spoke directly to the young men in the room. She didn’t speak about where they’ve been, but about where they’re headed. She reminded them that they are smart, capable, and full of promise.

As a mother herself, she shared that she sees hope in each of our graduates and believes in their ability to succeed.

Thank you, Sheriff Woodfork, for taking the time to celebrate this milestone and encourage our students as they begin their next chapter. 💙🎓

🎓 Every diploma tells a story.

Last week, we celebrated two remarkable graduates at Travis Hill NOLA’s JJIC campus. These two young men remained committed to their education and earned a milestone that can never be taken away from them.

Surrounded by family, staff, mentors, and supporters, these graduates were recognized not only for completing their academic requirements, but for the perseverance, growth, and determination that brought them to this moment.

At Travis Hill, graduation is about more than receiving a diploma. It’s about recognizing potential, creating opportunities, and helping young people see that their future can be greater than their current circumstances.

We are proud of these graduates and the hard work they put in to reach this day. Their success is a reminder that every student deserves the chance to learn, grow, and build a brighter future.

🎓 10 Graduates. 10 Stories of Perseverance. 10 Reasons to Believe in Second Chances.

Today, we celebrated a milestone at Travis Hill NOLA’s OJC campus as 10 students proudly received their high school diplomas surrounded by the people who never stopped believing in them.

The room was filled with families, loved ones, educators, mentors, members of the Public Defender’s Office, Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office staff, and Sheriff Michelle Woodfork, all gathered to witness what is possible when opportunity meets determination.

For many of these graduates, the journey was not easy. Yet today was a reminder that a person’s circumstances do not define their future.

Each diploma represents hard work, resilience, growth, and the courage to keep moving forward despite the obstacles.

We are proud of every graduate who earned this moment and grateful to the families, partners, and supporters who continue to walk alongside our students as they build brighter futures.

Today, we celebrated more than graduation.

We celebrated hope.
We celebrated redemption.
We celebrated what comes next.

Congratulations, Class of 2026. Your story is still being written. 💙🎓

What happens when artists, educators, advocates, and community members come together around a shared belief in the potential of young people?

A powerful evening like this.

We were honored to join BreakFree Education and Baldwin & Co. for an inspiring conversation featuring Grammy Award-winning artist Tarriona “Tank” Ball and BreakFree Education Executive Director David Domenici as they explored creativity, purpose, persistence, and the power of finding your voice.

The evening also brought together Travis Hill NOLA President & CEO Byron Goodwin and Leroy Hill, the older brother of Travis Hill, whose life and legacy continue to inspire our mission to serve some of New Orleans’ most vulnerable young people.

Tank’s heartfelt words and the poetry shared through BreakFree Education’s Words Unlocked initiative served as a reminder that every young person deserves to be seen, heard, and believed in.

At Travis Hill NOLA, we witness that truth every day.

A student’s potential cannot be confined.

“Discouragement speaks in permanent language about temporary seasons.”

A powerful reminder from Tarriona “Tank” Ball during her conversation with BreakFree Education and Travis Hill NOLA.

Tank shared words of encouragement directly to young people navigating difficult circumstances & reminded them to protect their curiosity, stay close to people who help them grow, and never let one painful chapter define their entire story.

“There is still a version of your life you haven’t met yet.”

At Travis Hill NOLA, we believe every young person deserves spaces where they are seen beyond their circumstances and reminded of their value, voice, and potential.

Thank you to Tank for pouring wisdom, honesty, and hope into our community and for helping uplift the voices of incarcerated youth through the Words Unlocked initiative.

Your story is still unfolding.
Your gifts still matter.
Your future is still possible.

“One person believing in you can change your entire world.”

During this powerful conversation at Baldwin & Co., BreakFree Education Executive Director David Domenici asked Tarriona “Tank” Ball what trusted adults got right for her growing up.

Her answer was a reminder of just how life-changing encouragement can be.

For so many young people navigating difficult circumstances, hearing the words “I believe in you” can become the beginning of transformation.

That’s why spaces like matter.
That’s why mentorship matters.
That’s why voices, creativity, and connection matter.

This evening brought together art, poetry, and honest conversation to uplift the voices and potential of incarcerated youth through BreakFree Education’s Words Unlocked initiative in partnership with Travis Hill NOLA.

Because sometimes all it takes… is one person.
