PS 287 PTA has had their first Bake Sale, and 287 showed up and showed out. Thank You to the my PTA, Shaquanna Clark(P), Tamisha Jones (VP), Destiny Ayala (T), and Olivia Crandell(S) for all their hard work for pulling this through. Thank You to our Parent Volunteers Netta and Takia(not pictured) for assisting and supporting the PTA through and through. Thank You NYC DOE School District # 13 for being our first customers of the day and supporting our PTA event. Nobody does Pink Pancake Day like the Parent leaders of P.S 287. We don’t hire caterers bc we truly have the best parents and grandparent chefs in our school.

ALERT: Potential Fentanyl “Trash Cans” We want all park users to know that we’ve had several reports of potential fentanyl “trash cans” located in and around the park. These have been found in the park’s playgrounds, on the central lawn, and on the Willoughby entrance ramp. Please see the pictures so you can identify them. If you or your friends and family see this debris in the park, please follow our guidance and protocol below: • DO NOT pick up the debris. And please instruct your children and loved ones to NOT touch the multi-colored “trash cans.” • Text an image and location to (347) 865-5423, the Fort Greene Park Director, who will have Parks staff safely remove and dispose of the “trash cans.” We will also alert our Community Wellness Team, who will monitor the locations where trash cans are found. • File a report with 311 (link in bio) regarding the debris in the park so the City gets an accurate record. The City uses this data to allocate resources. • Make a donation (link in bio) to the Conservancy to support the work of our Community Wellness Team and our grant-funded park staffing.

Good Evening Parent of PS 287. SMILE New York Outreach will be present at PS 287 on Friday October 20, 2023, to provide the children with dental exams, cleaning, x-rays, sealants & silver diamond fluoride. If you have not returned your child’s form, you can fill out the application online at www.MySchoolDentist.com (link below). You will have to enter the zip code (11201) and scroll down until you find PS 287, then fill out the information. If you do not wish your child to see the dentist, please let your teacher know on THAT day. Not sure if there are anymore applications inside the school, but it’s best to do it online for now being that it is short notice.

Your child will have a dental report along with a brand new tooth brush. If you have any more questions, please feel free to reach out.

Patient Application for In-School Dental Care Every year, over 51 million school hours are lost due to poor oral health. Smile Programs…the mobile dentists addresses this national crises by offering in-school dental care, bringing the care to the need at NO COST TO YOUR SCHOOL.

Good Morning parents. Middle School enrollment is current open. The Applications opened on Wednesday October 11, 2023 and closes Friday December 8, 2023. Anybody interested in Middle School Fair for District 13, there will one held at MS 113 located at 300 Adelphi St, on Tuesday October 17, 2023, from 5-7pm (it’s an appliction process session at 6pm).

If you attempted to go on My School to see the enrollment process, it will tell you to add a child. It’s going to ask your child’s Student ID Number and an Account Creation Code. If you do not have the code, you can call your child’s school for the code. (PS 287 parents, Ms. Bishop is on top of getting the info to us, please standby). I will update this when I get information from DOE on when they mailed out the creation code also.

Good Morning Parents of PS 287. SMILE is the building today providing eye exams for the children. They did exams for grades K-5. If your child has recieved glasses, they receive them with their prescription within 4-6 weeks. Will keep you updated on the return date.
