This past week, our scholars took on their state examâand we couldnât be prouder. We saw early mornings, deep focus, a few nervous moments, and a whole lot of determination. They showed up, gave it their all, and supported one another every step of the way.
Now, weâre turning the page and getting ready for whatâs next. Another exam is coming up next month, and our classrooms are already filled with review sessions, questions, encouragement, and steady progress. Weâre taking it one day at a time, building confidence together.

"âJust stop crying.â The worst advice for handling emotions. đĄ
When kids are overwhelmed by their emotions, dismissing their feelings with phrases like âstop cryingâ might seem like a quick fixâbut it teaches them to suppress rather than understand their emotions. Instead, moments like these can be opportunities to build emotional intelligence, a crucial skill for life.
Hereâs a better approach:
â
Acknowledge their emotions: Let them know their feelings are valid. Try saying, âI see that youâre upset, and itâs okay to feel this way.â Validation builds trust and helps them feel seen.
â
Help them name their feelings: Teaching kids to identify their emotions gives them the vocabulary to express themselves. Ask questions like, âAre you feeling sad, frustrated, or something else?â
â
Teach calming strategies: Equip them with tools to self-regulate. Deep breaths, a short walk, drawing, or even squeezing a stress ball can make a world of difference.
By guiding them through these steps, youâre not just calming them in the momentâyouâre teaching them how to navigate their feelings for years to come.
What are your go-to tips for helping kids manage their emotions? Letâs share ideas and learn from one anotherâdrop your thoughts below! đŹ
