If it’s Wednesday, it must be Mike’s Day…

Since last you heard from me, I’ve pretty much spent every day on some kind of sports field. I’ve got a relatively light schedule this spring, only coaching three teams and spectating for three more on top of that, which means by my parental math, that’s six opportunities to tie my kid’s shoes multiple times a game…

And without fail, every single time, to the front of my mind comes one of AMBR’s greatest spots, Nomis “Damn Boots”. This song is on loop in my mind, heart, and soul every time I hit Max, Maggie, or any of my players with a quick loop/swoop/pull. “Damn boots, damn boots, I hate these boots.” Might as well get it tattooed on my forehead.

To be honest, as my kids get older, and as we wait a reasonable amount of time before throwing a uniform on newborn Myles, I think about how quickly this time has gone by with my kids and how soon I’m going to miss tying their shoes. But for now, we sing about the Damn Boots.

This week starts the beginning of my favorite season, as I embark on another year as a little league coach, a player for the Newburgh Tigers, and a fan of the New York Mets. Frankly, most of my experiences in baseball make me want to grab a few Budweisers, so I can think of nothing more appropriate to showcase today than one of my favorite AMBR spots, “Epic Toast”.

This spot was created by the good folks at Anomaly, shoutout to Derek Barnes, Mike Byrne, Paul Renner, Niki Polyocan, and Andrew Loevenguth. We provided the music and sound design and if you listen carefully enough, you can hear everyone’s favorite Senior Producer/Music Supervisor screaming and hollering in the locker room scene.

Here’s hoping for some Epic Toasts at the end of this season!

As I mentioned yesterday on my Bob Marley post, I also worked with some other fantastic Artists.

Grace Jones was one of my favourite people to know, work and play with.

Today i am posting a track that I choose to be a single and it did really.

Most people know me just for working on music for commercials but believe me there's lots more!.

So another amazing project I worked on was to do the music on the TV version on The Hunger.

I was already working on Jake Scotts film when he asked me if I would like to work with his uncle Tony Scott. Of course I said yes and ran over to The Film Editor, where the amazing Pamela Power was cutting.

As soon as I saw the cut I immediately thought of a track by band The Tiger Lillies.

As soon as Tony heard the track W***e, he decided to recut the film around it.

We also did the title music and all the rest of the score

Be warned this is definitely NOT a film to play to the under 18's or if you're a bit squeamish.

The Hunger - Episode 1 - The Swords (Music By AMBR)

It’s a snowy day Upstate, so I’ve decided to cross several items off of the vast list of things I haven’t seen yet. From classic films to indie sleepers, I’ve been crushing my Letterboxd diary, which is currently up to 130 films viewed this year. Michelle is always giving me suggestions, as we have such different tastes, so it’s been a great opportunity to pick her brain about some of the many killer works in the “Pre-Mike” AMBR era.

That’s led me to “The Hire”, a series of short films created for BMW by RSA & Fallon. “Beat The Devil”, which was directed by Tony Scott and starred damn near every famous person you can possibly think of, is a cool and sleek feature that scratches me right where I itch. This thing is WILD. Gary Oldman as The Devil is perfect casting, James Brown is his James Brown-iest, Clive Owen shows why he easily could have been the next Bond, and even Danny Trejo shows up to check off every box on the Mike Perri Checklist Of Things Every Movie Needs.

AMBR worked on the title music, which fit the time and tone perfectly. This is like if Gone In 60 Seconds ingested every drug imaginable. In short, I fu***ng LOVE it and will be checking out the entire series.
