Our Peer Educator of the week is Mayán!

“I care about ending sexual violence because it is something that is so prevalent in society but often very stigmatized. Sexual violence should be eradicated and I will do whatever I can to play a role in dismantling it. I think the first step is to create conversations about the topic and generate space for healing and important educational opportunities.

I want people to know that everything is intersectional. By speaking about the importance of consent one is also speaking to the importance of healing, activism, and justice.”

"As the movement to end anti-black racism builds, we show up at this moment as a multi-racial, survivor-led collective poised to amplify the ways in which the movements to end sexual violence and racial violence are reliant upon one another. Survivors know how to transform systems and create a culture of accountability. We are co-creating an agenda that will seed the changes we need. That work begins on June 24th with the launch of the Survivors’ Agenda crowdsourced platform.

Join us on June 25th at 4-5pm PT/ 7-8pm ET as we hold a conversation on the intertwining of oppression and sexual violence, and organizing survivors and allies to lead the charge. We invite all those who may or may not self-identify as survivors or as part of a marginalized community, but who, by nature of their personal experiences, deeply associate with the impacts of survivorhood.

The conversations will be led by the change-makers Tarana Burke of The Me Too Movement - , Fatima Goss Graves from the National Women's Law Center, Ai-jen Poo from National Domestic Workers Alliance, and Mónica Ramírez from Justice 4 Migrant Women."
