Teatro Highlight: Teatro Círculo

A force in New York City’s Latino arts scene, Teatro Círculo has been championing Spanish-language theater since its founding in 1994 by Artistic Director José Cheo Oliveras. Rooted in a mission to preserve and educate through the classical and contemporary Latino performing arts, the company brings to life the legacy of Spain’s Golden Age alongside powerful modern works from across Latin America. Teatro Círculo bridges past and present, connecting communities through stories that resonate across generations.

Dedicated to serving diverse Latinx neighborhoods throughout the tri-state area, Teatro Círculo continues to foster cultural pride and artistic excellence. With an impressive record of award-winning productions, the company remains a cultural hub where the richness, history, and evolving voices of Latino theater come together in celebration.

Recent programming has included lively productions such as Fiesta de Zarzuela and Tango 100%, celebrating the musical and cultural traditions of the Spanish-speaking world through performance-driven experiences. The company is excited for its upcoming season with new productions and community events, and audiences and artists alike are encouraged to explore what’s next, from attending upcoming shows to even utilizing the theater’s space for performances and events—continuing the cycle of artistic exchange that defines Teatro Círculo.

Teatro Highlight: Thalia Theatre

The first and only bilingual Hispanic theater in Queens, Thalia Theatre began in 1977. It has been a cornerstone for Spanish-language performing arts, dedicated to bringing the richness of Hispanic culture to diverse audiences. With a strong commitment to preserving and promoting the Spanish theatrical tradition, Thalia creates a vibrant space where classic and contemporary works can exist through dynamic productions that blend drama, music, and dance,

Thalia remains a cultural hub and artistic home, reflecting the depth, diversity, and passion of the Spanish-speaking world.

Don’t miss your opportunity to check out their show TANGOmania, a new tango musical that blends classic and contemporary tangos into a passionate and visually striking stage experience, that run until the end of March, and also get ready to experience Flamenco y Lorca, a flamenco tribute to Federico García Lorca, that will be running in April.
