To demonstrate their commitment to buyer safety, the leading venues should become proactive, hire experienced art professionals with requisite knowledge who have the authority to eliminate deceptive listings that clutter online art venues.

A good rule of thumb when buying fine art online; a Certificate of Authenticity, aka COA, is WORTHLESS unless issued by the respective artist/estate. To be valid, a certificate of authenticity must be authored by an acknowledged authority/expert, the artist who created the art or agent acting in an
arms length capacity.

A COA is invalid when issued by a self serving dealer/seller who has a financial interest in the respective sold art, ultimately providing zero protection and immediate disqualification.
