A metaphoric exploration through music and literature, which represents the migratory experience. The main installation took place in June 2014 in Staten Island, New York, it is located at Richmond Terrace between Jewett Avenue, and Rector Street. It is still on display. Around 1400 square feet of chain link fence was covered by a giant wave of over 18,000 vinyl butterflies, which will be surrounded by 10.000 blue plastic cups inserted into the fence. The combination of patterns gives shape to different iconic elements from New York City landscape. This work is part a series called La Isla Bonita (The Beautiful Island) developed by Colombian artist Lina Montoya AKA Ele Eme, under the "Ele Eme Project" (LMProject.org), where through the completion of artistic interventions in public spaces, the project seeks not only beautification of urban environments but also an approach and interaction with the community. Yellow Butterflies is inspired by music, is a tribute to magical realism and an analogy to freedom; it is also the redefinition of the monarch butterfly as an icon of migration, and pays homage to all those who have flown away from their beloved land looking for other scenarios and opportunities. It is the representation of the stories that emerge from the encounter of an individual with a new culture, refers to utopias, dreams, ideals and aspirations that inhabit the collective minds of the different communities. La Isla Bonita

Es una exploración metafórica, a través de la música y la literatura, que representa las experiencias migratorias. La instalación que se llevó a cabo en Junio de 2014 en Staten Island, New York está ubicada en Richmond Terrace entre Jewett Avenue y Rector Street. Continua en exhibición. Al rededor de 1400 pies cuadrados de malla metálica fueron cubiertos por una ola gigante de más de 18.000 mariposas elaboradas en lona brillante, enmarcada con 10.000 copas plasticas de color azul, combina varios patrones dando forma a diferentes elementos icónicos del paisaje newyorkino. Esta obra hace parte una serie llamada "La Isla Bonita" creada por la artista colombiana Lina Montoya AKA Ele Eme bajo el “Proyecto Ele Eme”, donde por medio de la ejecución de intervenciones artísticas en espacios públicos, se busca no solo el embellecimiento de entornos urbanos sino también el acercamiento e interacción con la comunidad. "Mariposas Amarillas" está inspirada en la música, es una apología al realismo mágico y una analogía a la libertad; es también la resignificación de la mariposa monarca como ícono de las migraciones, hace homenaje a todos aquellos que han volado lejos de su Tierra Querida en busca de otros escenarios y oportunidades, es la representación de las historias que surgen a partir del encuentro de un individuo con una nueva cultura, hace referencia a las utopías, sueños, ideales y aspiraciones que habitan las mentes colectivas de las diferentes comunidades.
