PRESS CONFERENCE: UNICEF child and youth climate advocates at COP29.
As leaders gather at COP29, climate crises continue to wreak havoc on children’s lives and wellbeing worldwide. Across the globe, climate shocks are affecting children’s health and development, safety, and their access to essential services. The world is simply not doing enough to protect children.
UNICEF child and youth delegates Georgina (10, Tanzania), Ketsia (20, the Democratic Republic of the Congo), Rasul (16, Azerbaijan), Michael (22, Sierra Leone), Zunaira (14, Pakistan), Catarina (17, Brazil) and Francisco (15, Colombia) spoke up at a press conference at COP29 today:
'Children are still forgotten. We need to be put at the center of climate action'.

It's International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week.
📈 Lead poisoning occurs when lead builds up in the body, often over months or years. In most cases, lead poisoning occurs through ingestion and inhalation of lead particles.
Lead is a naturally occurring heavy metal used throughout human history in:
⛽ Petrol
🎣 Fishing weights
🎨 Paint
🔋 Batteries
💄 Makeup
🌎 Releases of lead into the environment contaminate our air, water and soil, which can cause widespread lead poisoning.
International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week 2024 The focus of this year’s campaign “Bright Futures begin Lead Free” reminds governments, civil society organizations, health partners, industry and others of the unacceptable risks of lead exposure and the need for action to protect children's health.
