In observance of Juneteenth, NextFab will be closed on Friday, June 19th. We encourage our community to use this time for rest, reflection, and to deepen their understanding of this historic milestone. We look forward to welcoming you back to the shop floor during our regular hours on Saturday!

This week was packed with major milestones across the shops. In the jewelry studio, Kat’s Stacking Ring series wrapped up with some impressive results! Stone setting is one of the most challenging techniques to grasp, but every student walked away with two custom rings. One maker was so inspired she made a third ring, while another created a pair of stone-set post earrings.

In the woodshop, Lauren helped Jacky and our newest member, Dave, get settled in. Dave has been planning to join the NextFab community for over a decade, and we’re happy to have him on the shop floor.

Celebrate Pride with a hands-on carving activity! Join us at NextFab for a wood carving session hosted in partnership with Museum for Art in Wood . In this workshop you will shape a spoon’s curvy contours with two traditional Swedish carving tools, the Sloyd knife and the hook knife. We will work with precut green wood spoon blanks that are supple with the moisture from the tree they came from. Safe practices and effective wood removal will be taught in a series of knife moves that will be practiced with body awareness. Turn 'green wood' into your new favorite kitchen tool. Whether you're here for the meditative whittling or the community connection, you’ll leave with a custom spoon and a brand-new skill.
