Our young learners at Gutman had a wonderful visit from Doc Bresler's Cavity Busters yesterday! Through hands-on activities and engaging demonstrations, students learned the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene and building healthy habits that can last a lifetime. One of the highlights was practicing proper brushing techniques on a stuffed animal with teeth, making learning both fun and memorable.

Teaching children how to care for their teeth is about more than bright smiles: it's an essential part of early childhood education that helps support overall health, confidence, and lifelong wellness. Thank you to Doc Bresler's for helping our students take another step toward healthy futures!

Our young artists at Gutman explored the wonderful world of color through a fun and creative painting activity, using sponges instead of traditional paintbrushes to create their own unique canvases.

Arts and crafts are an important part of early childhood education because they encourage creativity, strengthen fine motor skills, improve hand-eye coordination, and help children learn to follow directions. Activities like these also introduce important concepts such as color recognition, patterns, and self-expression in a hands-on and engaging way.

Most importantly, they give children the freedom to experiment, imagine, and take pride in creating something all their own. We are proud of our young painters and the creativity they brought to every canvas!

Last Thursday, June 11, 2026, our FELS Board Members and Leadership Team came together for the Annual FELS Board Meeting, an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of the past year, discuss exciting new initiatives on the horizon, and set our sights on ambitious goals for 2027.

Beyond the important conversations and strategic planning, the gathering provided valuable time to connect as a team, share a meal together, exchange ideas, and strengthen the relationships that help move our mission forward. The evening was filled with thoughtful discussion, collaboration, laughter, and plenty of smiles as we celebrated how far we've come and looked ahead to what’s next.

We are grateful for the dedication, leadership, and vision of everyone involved, and we look forward to another year of growth, innovation, and impact.

Sunshine, fresh air, cool winds, and time with friends: The perfect way to start a Monday.

Our young learners at Lassin enjoyed a beautiful day outdoors, making the most of the open field through play, exploration, and connection. Outdoor play is far more than a break from the classroom; it helps children develop coordination, problem-solving skills, independence, and meaningful friendships. It also encourages curiosity, resilience, and a lifelong appreciation for the world around them.

One of the sweetest moments from last week's graduation at K'tonton was hearing our young graduates singing Shabbat songs together. The joy and confidence they brought to the celebration reflected the educational spirit and the values they have learned throughout the year. As we welcome Shabbat, we're grateful for these special moments that strengthen our community and connect us to our traditions.

How did our young learners at Lassin stay cool during this heat while still enjoying outdoor play? They spent their time in the shaded areas of our playground, keeping sun exposure to a minimum while continuing to move, explore, and engage with their environment.

Staying cool and protected in hot weather is an important part of early childhood education. It supports healthy physical development, prevents overheating, and helps children remain comfortable, focused, and ready to learn. Teaching children how to listen to their bodies and take safe breaks outdoors builds lifelong habits around health and self-care.

We are incredibly proud of our young learners at Paley as they celebrated their preschool graduation and took an important step toward the next chapter of their educational journey. Over the years, they have grown academically, socially, and emotionally, developing the skills and confidence needed to thrive in the classroom and beyond. As they move forward, we know they will continue to learn, lead, and make a positive impact on the world around them. Congratulations, graduates—your future is bright!

At Lassin, our young cyclists are making the most of a warm summer day outdoors riding their bicycles on our bike track, soaking up vitamin D, staying hydrated, and building essential early learning skills along the way. Every ride strengthens hand-eye coordination, sharpens spatial awareness, and helps develop a natural sense of direction. Moments like these are foundational for early childhood development, supporting confidence, independence, and healthy growth through movement and exploration.

☀️ As summer temperatures rise today and tomorrow & camp season approaches, let's keep our children safe while they learn, play, and grow.

Young children are especially vulnerable to heat-related illnesses, making hydration, shade, rest breaks, and access to cool spaces more important than ever. This is particularly important for campers attending programs like Camp Woodlight at Paley and other summer activities throughout our FELS community.

Outdoor play is a critical part of childhood development. For children in early childhood education, time spent outdoors supports physical health, social-emotional learning, creativity, and problem-solving skills—helping develop the future leaders of tomorrow.

Remember: drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks, wear lightweight clothing, seek shade, and watch for signs of heat-related illness.

Together, we can ensure children stay safe, active, and engaged all summer long.
